Nearly 2,000 sacks of rice missing from Ayutthaya warehouse

AYUTTHAYA, 18 July 2014, (NNT) - About 2,000 sacks of rice have gone missing from a warehouse in Ayutthaya Province.


Upon inspection of Baan Praek Rice Storage in Baan Praek District of Ayutthaya, which houses 140,314 sacks of rice bran collected during the 2013-2014 season, government's rice inspectors found traces at the top of the rice stacks indicating that some sacks of rice had been moved.

Later on in the day, the inspecting team inspected PP&P Warehouse in Phachee District and found that 1,725 sacks, out of the 75,335 bags of 5% broken rice rice stored in the warehouse, were missing from the stockpile.

NCPO deputy says Yingluck’s travel permission uncertain

BANGKOK: -- The deputy head of National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) says he is uncertain if the former prime minister will be allowed to leave the country after she was ruled guilty in the controversial rice-pledging scheme by the graft buster.

More foreign firms allowed to do business in Thailand

BANGKOK, July 18 -- Thailand has granted 39 more international companies to launch their businesses in the country, bringing the total number of foreign firms allowed to operate their businesses here to 225 in the first seven months of this year.

No Thai passengers believed on MH 17 Flight

BANGKOK, 18 July 2014 (NNT) - The Foreign Affairs Ministry has indicated that there were no Thai passengers on board the MH 17 Malaysia Airlines aircraft that crashed on July 17th.


MH-17 was a scheduled international flight from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur that was brought down by an unknown ground missile believed fired from within Eastern Ukraine, and resulting in the deaths of all 298 passengers aboard.

Sek Wannamethee, the Director-General of the Department of Information and Foreign Affairs, was able to report that the identities of all passengers and crew were still being investigated.

He stated that to date, the Thai Embassy in the Netherlands has reported that there were no Thai passengers among the casualties. However, of the 298 deaths, there were still 47 whose nationalities had not yet been identified.

Black box found at plane crash site in Ukraine: emergency workers

GRABOVE, Ukraine - Rescue workers at the crash site of Malaysian airliner MH17 in eastern Ukraine told an AFP reporter Friday that they had found one of the black boxes from the passenger liner.

BoT urges businesses to trade in yuan with China

Thai agencies revising labour law to deal with human trafficking

BANGKOK, July 18 -- Thailand's labour law is now being revised by several concerned government agencies and upon completion it could guarantee customers overseas that there is neither child labour, forced labour nor human trafficking in Thailand, said Ms Puntarik Smiti, deputy permanent secretary for labour.
