I need to go to Wireless Road and wondered how easy it is and quick to get there from both airports.  DM has cheaper flights but if it's hassle to get there by public transport and longer it may be better to go to Soowannnnaapoooom ;-)

Can somebody give me the details for the non-taxi options for both and the taxi details.   Would need to know approx costs and travel times.  Sorry if this has already been posted.  It will be a 1 day trip and I'll be arriving around 8.30am into BKK if that makes a difference

Thanks again

From Swampy it's the Airport Rail (City Line) to Phaya Thai then the BTS to Ploenchit. Travel time should be under an hour even if you don't hit the trains right.

From Don Mueang I'm less sure, there are buses into town (Victory Monument) from where you can get the BTS.

Where on Wireless Road are you going, if it's far from Sukhumvit a taxi from the airport may be the best option.

Thanks for the response, Centrepoint.

Sounds like Swampy is more straight-fwd so probably better off paying the extra 1000 to fly BKK air return as less hassles

But remember 0830 is still heavy traffic into town so it may not be a fast trip.  Also best to be able to explain where you want to go as name is not "wireless" in Thai and many taxi drivers will not have a clue unless you use the Thai word "Witthayu Road".  But there is no rail transport option on that road so taxi would be much easier.

Thanks all.  I'm going to centre point on Wireless road.  How much is a taxi from DM to Mo Chit?

There is a bus right outside arrivals at DMK to Mo Chit(non-stop), 30baht.  Just as quick as a taxi.

Taxi is not a good option if one wants to be certain about time. It could take an hour, it could take 2, who knows. The Airport rail link followed by BTS to Ploenchit works best (of course only if arriving at Suvarnabhumi). Wireless road isn't that long, one can easily walk from the BTS to the embassy or whereever you need to go, or catch a motorcycle taxi (win motosai) from the BTS station.

Coming from Don Muang, a taxi to the nearest BTS station (Mo Chit) followed by BTSing it to Ploenchit then as already mentioned walk/motorcycle taxi to your destination would be the way to go.

8.30am is rush hour - unless you're on a motocycle taxi it could take an hour to travel from the intersection with Rama I down to the intersection with Rama IV near Lumphini park. And that's only a distance of some 2km!
