Annies Paradise Beach Bar Rawai has fallen Foul to the Junta

Featured Replies

Hi All ,

Annies Paradise Beach Bar in Rawai not far the Orbitors has fallen victim to the new rules .

Apparantly the bar itself is perfectly legal , not on public land , sits on private land and all legitimate , except for one detail ...

It seems the previous owner did not apply for planning permission to build the bar and therefor it must be knocked down ;(

Anyhow , ive just been told its the last night tomorrow , so if you know Annie or like the place seems tomorrow is the day to say farewell to it.

Nice bar sad to see the end, if small details like this are to be enforced and I suppose they should be , it only makes me more impatient to see  the NP encroachers fall. Sooner not later.

I prefer Seabreeze bar, just before you turn down to the paradise bar. Cheaper drinks and better view.

Never been to seabreeze don't know why, have to check it out.

Could they not apply for a permit ?

Don't like the seabreeze and that's not just to disagree with KB :-)

I'll agree that the Seabreeze doesn't have the same ambiance and it isn't as good as Paradise for groups, but, as I said before, cheaper prices and better view.

I think the Junta is taking somethings a bit 2 far. So far its only the small business people who are affected. Those who have no means to fight back (except the taxi mob) lets see some real work generals....

Yep it's a war on low income workers, the elite are now fully  militarized.  I think this will all  end very badly, in a " let them eat sand kind of way."

Now, many of us are hoping they bring down the Ark Bar on Samui. One of the greatest offenders on the island, when it comes to noise pollution. Their music can be heard for 5 km. down the coast, from their location on Chaweng Beach, a few nights per week. Hotels have been complaining about these outlaws for years now. Windows rattling 4 km. away. Must be some big money going into the right pockets on Samui. Most foul indeed.

It much easier to clear out the rubble that don't have any type of paperwork. It will take longer to check into MoU's and corrupt land transfers… But clearing the public land is good for all, other than those who were profiting from their ill gotten gain! Unless of course you're one of those who can't live without a lounger, umbrella and beer service on the beach… violin.gif

No announcement from Annie! Nor her longtime staff Shell or Shell's BF.  I call Annie in a few hours to get the info and report back when I'm home again at about 11am.

Ah that's a shame. The food wasn't bad and they are friendly enough down there.

Small detail? They built without permission apparently, so the building should not be there.

A missing or incomplete license or a signboard that does not meet standards would be a small detail.

Chose not to confuse the waters.  By that hour there were stories of a full BBQ ala Jan, closed up, and open but no party. I went by about 5 pm to see trucks parked all over etc. Called the Bar Maids BF who was on sight to learn it was a stated, just a last night piss up.  I'll express my condolences in a more personal way, thank you.
If this is Nathan, Jimmy Fishing's mate, give him 60k can pay me back!

  • 3 weeks later...

Madame Annie's will rise again.  I spent a little time with the Lovely Annie yesterday talking about an agenda etc. She is looking at a few places right now. Lot's to consider, lots.  I expect she'll be ready for whatever high season brings.   Parking is the problem, all these successful restos have good parking ala Da Vinci and Amalfi etc. Hard to find. I believe s few places won't make it to October..  You'd be surprised as to how many spots there are near to beach road etc. Gotta think about parking. Don't worry she'll not have to sell her Benz to reopen!

I will keep the board posted

The food was never terrific anyway.
It was just a good pitstop for a beer and relax.

I had a quick peek about a week back. Bar closed, but, no demolition.

Wondering if they are trying to get planning permission for the existing structure.

Seabreeze Bar is much busier, now.
