Driving Ubon to Choam Sa-Ngam: Any attractions worth stopping for?

Featured Replies

Heading from Ubon to Siem Reap via Choam Sa-Ngam border crossing in Sept. Will be hiring a minivan + driver to get to the border, then another from border down.

Looking to see if there is anything of interest worth stopping for a peek at on either highway 24 or via road to Si Sa Ket then down (or any other practical route).

Need to complete the road trip in 1 day, therefore anything worth looking at must be for a reasonbly quick peek, or combine with food/pit stop.

Never plan on going that route again - however will likely go to Preah Vihear at some future time as we return to Ubon every few years (family connections).

If nothing worth a look on Thai side of border, will free up time to look at Cambodia side, eg Anlong Veng area.

6 of us touring (2x 60 year olds, 2x 40yo, 2x 7yo ~ish)

Thoughts? Suggestions? Ideas?

Thanks in advance

I second that and while your at it, take a little more of a detour and have lunch at http://suanloongdaengfarmstay.com and check out Khao Phra Viharn or what ever happens to be open at the moment.

The last report I had the army was not allowing anyone to drive into or threw the national forest on the Thai side of Pra Viharn due to all the illegal logging and be aware yes you can visit PV form the Cambodian side BUT Thai nationals are not allowed to visit the site.

Crazy temple just outside SSK in Uthomphon Phisai. All sorts of weird gargoyles. Worth a 15 minute break.

The Khao Phra Viharn National Park is open for visitors, and from the Pha Moo I Daeng Cliff you can get a good view of the Cambodian plains, and the temple on the hill top. However you cannot cross the border to visit the temple! Well worth a trip for those who have not been there! wink.png
