Village in Ubon Ratchatani submerged under two meters of water

UBON RATCHATHANI, 6 August 2014 (NNT) – Relief and rescue teams have gone to a village submerged under two meters of floodwater to deliver food and water to residents trapped there.

Floodwaters have cut off the Ban Deau Dome village in Ubon Ratchathani's Piboon Mangsaharn District from the outside civilization, blocking access to roads leading outside the community area. The village has been submerged under 2.5 meters of water. As of now, only boats are able to pass through.

More than 100 families trapped there are facing food and water shortages. Authorities have deployed flat-bottomed boats to evacuate the villagers and move their belongings to safer places.

For those who refused to leave, relief packages including food and drinking water were delivered to them to let them cope with the situation.

A disaster prevention center has been set up following the incident to assist flood victims during this rainy reason.
