who are the 'victor meldrews' and whats their agenda ?

Featured Replies

are they in a love hate relationship ??

ripped off 1 to many times ?

shafted by thais along the way ?

??????

those called Farang and not liking it... like Mr. Dagobert....

Agenda? complaining, complaining, complaining...

you had better tell the colonial cousins who Victor Meldrew is first, before they comment

You mean who are the GOM's. Thanks for making me look up a sitcom character for a show I'll never see nor did I learn anything useful from my effort. You must think the show was such a hit that it got noticed outside of Blighty. It didn't.

I do associate myself with Victor.

I love my wife and she loves me back.

Never been ripped off in my life.

Never been shafted by any Thais.

But I love complaining and moaning all the time.

This is a privilege of my age and I enjoy every moment of it.

Mr. CH is a Victor Meldrew in the making. I'm not talking about Charlton Heston.

Pathetic show that I watched once due to my elderly mother wanting to see it.

so you say

You may have watched one of the (many) lesser episodes, some episodes were superb.

Calling Mildrew a GOM is correct, but that is only half of the story!

And yes, Mildrew is oooooh sooooooo British, but then again, so are Monty Python, Thatcher and Soutpeel, who all make us laugh, don't they?

Off topic, but may I mention that there are lots of Archie Bunkers on this forum? Same same as Meldrew, but different.

Sawan Chan 7 's mother surely would not have wanted to watch that!

whaaa? I know Victor from 'One foot in the grave'...and I'm from Pasadena (unusually literate, perhaps but can't help that...)

Archie was a take on Alf Garnett in 'Until death do us part'...nothin' to do with Victor Meldrew who was a curmudgeon rather than a hateful (but amusing) racist...

I don't BELIEVE it ! facepalm.gif

Hi. Colonial cousin here. Never heard of this Mildew character. Musty old Britwit, is he? Tutsiwarrior (ain't seen much of you lately, mate) described him as a curmudgeon - a beautifully evocative word that I immediately associate with the likes of Van Morrison and Dylan. The other Dylan. If so, then he should have his own forum on TV so that all the Britwits here can feel at home. I hope I'm not out of line.
