Where's the cheapest Animal Clinic to get a female cat spayed?

Where's the cheapest Animal Clinic to get a female cat spayed?  

The last place I went cost me over 5000 baht, and my cat died the evening we got her back from the vet.  I was not a happy camper for the results I got for what I considered to be a lot of money.  So, money doesn't equate to quality care.  So which vet will do this for the cheapest price?  I can get this done for less than 1500 baht in the US ($45).

You could probably get it done at the teaching hospital at CMU (Small Animal Hospital on Canal Road) for about 2500. Plus all veterinarians require you to come in the day before to take blood tests prior to surgery. They charge 650 Baht at CMU for that.

 

There may be some small private clinics around town who may do it for about the same price as CMU or less but keep in mind the facilities would be very primitive, no emergency equipment if something goes wrong... Any cheaper then you are probably looking at going to one of those outdoor clinics the government offers in the moobaans once a year. The animals are sterilized on outdoor picnic tables by government doctors; some of which may only be a year or less out of school.

Thanks for the info regarding CMU.  3150 baht is in my price range.  Our last cat was an adopted feral soi cat.  We had her neutered after she had a litter of one kitten.  We have no idea where the kitten when to. 

The current cat is again a feral soi cat that we have worked with for about 6 months.  She's gone from being completely untouchable to now rolling over and having her stomach rubbed.  And she just had a litter of kittens.  I don't think the kittens are going to make it because she had them in a locked abandoned building that she got into prior to the tenant leaving.  The tenant is vacating and came back, found the cat in the building and chased her out.  She had been in the building for about 10 days.  Now the building is locked again with her kittens inside, probably 12 days old.  It's been three days now.  I doubt the kittens are going to make it.  Anyway, I want to get her spayed as she has slowly become part of our family responding affectionately and without fear with myself, my wife, step son and his fiancee.  I don't want her pumping out any more kittens.

I don't have the vets business name.  It's in central Chiang Mai, that the best I can do.  I'll never go back there.

To spay can only refer to removing the ovaries, hence only females. But, and this surprised me, the online dictionary told me that to castrate, which i had always thought referred to only removing the testicles, hence only males, can also refer to removing the ovaries.  I have never heard of castrating females but maybe the usage is antiquated.

 

Feral cats are a huge menace, as you mention. Be sure that any cute kits you keep are fully sterile before turning loose.  I would prefer  euthanasia for every one.

We had our four kitten (three females and one male) sterilized at Ban Mha Ka Maew Animal Hospital on Mahidol Road (between Central Airport and Ping Rover; just after McDonalds and before Chiang Mai Land).

Total cost for all four was B4'400. The blood test - the day before - for all was around B1'600.

Otherwise this clinic is expensive.

There are two (that I am aware of; they have logos on the car which transports the animals) animal foundations that also bring their animals for sterilization and treatment.

 

The clinic at the Canal Road could not help our cat in an emergency case, so we had to go to the other 24h animal clinic near the old cultural center where they could save the cat.

We also have an adopted soi cat and she's a little darling.

 

Took her to get spayed the other day but she had an allergic reaction to the anaethesic so the op wasn't done.  I think it was going to cost 1200 baht.  Great vet at Meechok Plaza, very happy with her, we've been in with our dog a few times.

I was at CMU today and was quoted 3000-4000 baht!! It is far more expensive than regular vets.

I took cat to another clinic where it was 1500 b.

Nevertheless, friend  who takes in many strays usually uses a vet near her village for around 1400 baht.

Asked for a quote from a "new "  pet clinic not too far from the airport and was quoted 12,000 baht ( did include blood test).

You can probably guess where she went.
