I was talking with a UK friend last night who told me he was getting married, to a Thai lady, in September.  He said that he is currently on the second entry of a double TR visa from Vientiane and he would extend that for 30 days at immigration, during which time he would marry.  He then said that he hoped to then get a further 60 days at immigration, by way of being married to a Thai.  I said that I was not sure if it is possible to get, what seems to me, an extension of an extension.  As this worried him, I would like to ask those in the know if it is indeed possible to get the extra 60 days extension for being married to a Thai or if he will have to leave Thailand and apply for a Non 'O' visa in a neighboring country.

I did a bit of research on Thai visa and the answer is here, so no problem.

If you get a 30 day extension on your toruist visa you can after that extend it by 60 days based on visiting your wife or Thai child.
