So I thought it was pretty much certain it was going to be knocked down completley now.

Yet driving home today , heading towards heriones monument theres a bloody great billboard that theyve just put a poster on promoting it ???

Confused...

The problem is the original shacks for locals to conduct business in were built on that site by the local administration.

So in theory, it's government property on government property and it's a grey area for now.

Catch aren't the original lease holders of the original shack that 'increased' in size.

I think they are going with the philosophy of "it's not over until the fat lady sings". As a lot of the places on the beach seem to be doing.

Exactly. Most still believe this will all blow over and back to business.

The mayor says electricity will be cut off this week but that has not been confirmed by the electric company. In any event they are looking to relocate as they are left with such small premises now so the discussion is mute really.

Did I not read somewhere that if it was to go completly Twin Palms were Not going to relocate and reopen at a different location ?

Seem to remember but not certain if its true or not .

Yes. Go past twins palms and further down the road on the left. Maybe a kilometre. It's some other beach club at the moment but apparently in negotiations. Catch is successful and has clientele and the other doesn't. Edited by hansgruber

No power cuts yet. They have said some buildlings will remain in their original unaltered form so it is unclear if they are turning it all off or selecting certain establishments.

Alternatively maybe they are telling some buildings that they can remain but without electric. A few derelict shells on Surin would add to the overall ambiance on there right now.

Spoke to the manager last night. He said they are being allowed to stay! TIT

interesting - if that is the case the local government and military will have back tracked on their statements. Signs of cracks already

Catch beach club are moving.

The old beach club about 1 kilometre down the road past Twin Palms entrance on the left side.

It was going strong on Saturday night. I was in the neighbourhood around midnight and was curious so drove by -- place was busy, music was pumping, and folks looked happy (some looked a bit too happy). I went home to bed.

None of the big dollar encroachers have been removed. And none will. I have been saying this for months...but of course the rainbow fairies such as Pinot think that all is well. All is not well, just the poor have been cleared out in this class war.

Oh dear.

Perhaps you should read what been posted to avoid looking the fool.

You can keep beating the class war rubbish all you like but you aren't fooling anyone but yourself and your alias Eblair.

And you base that on? The announcement of Catch having to move and actually going to move?

Based on the lack NCPO enforcement of "Thai law" : Taxis are using the carpark again, Food vendors are back in the car park, JetSki's are back, Taxi ranks just off the beach are all back and the Thai restaurants are still there.(most the falang ones have been ejected).

Plus my understanding is that Catch is not moving and as we speak the umbrella and chair "vendors" are meeting to try and be allowed back.

Just a few minor cracks.

I was over in Kata last week and the tuk tuk scum seem to be back in numbers with a lot congregated around the new toilet block on the beach, seemed like an apt place for these ******** also down the other end on the bend .

Taxi's in the car park next to government building also.

I have a friend who has a hotel in Karon says a lot of the hard core scum are back now after a few weeks in hiding.

But that not a crack is it?

These guys are like cockroaches. Resilient, repugnant and hated by all except family members.

Sorry Pete about the link. I apologise but don't call double standards just because you're affected. Opinions get jaded that way.

You don't understand

I want the NCPO to enforce many of these things....but they aren't.

What do you want? Are you under the illusion that the NCPO is doing great job and there is now no private business taking place on the beaches? The taxis booths are all gone and the amazing call center is setup and operational? Are there unicorns prancing past your house?

There main objective is to define public and private land. They moved them on but obviously haven't been helped with all the hurdles locals put up by not moving when told. Catch beach club and others are stalling just makes the job harder.

Once the deadline hits nobody knows.

Just wait and see before flying off the handle.

I noticed you're still operating, why haven't you demolished yet?

That's because its controlled by the guys in the government building. All in cahoots together. The car park behind that where they fester the army can do nothing about and they are the most scummy of the island.

I pass that carpark every day and my observation is that there are much less tuk tuks and green plate taxis in the actual car park. Now I see them parking in the Tesibaan forecourt and on the road opposite the public buses. Much less taxi drivers hanging about the shelter in the car park and the tourist taxi desk stand still not there any more.

//edit// just realised this is the Catch Club topic - let's all try and stay on that topic, thank you.

They have just spread them around.

Some near the surfhouse toilets and others hanging out next to the lifesavers builfing at the north end.

When I saw the tessabaan grounds I laughed to myself. Never has it been so obvious about who protects them.
