I have a British Passport and have lived in Thailand for 7 years, retired. I have Bank accounts in UK and Thailand but I now want to open a Stock Broker account in America to deal on the NYSE.. Yes Yes I know I can deal via Singapore or London but it is very expensive, per deal, to do it that way. I wrote to Charles Shwab but they never replied. Has any one recently opened an account. Please advise. Deals must cost less than 25 UK Pds for it to make sense.

Etrade in Singapore allows u to trade US stocks at 9$ flat rate per trade - the same rates they charge in America. Very good deal. That fee also applies to ETFs
