Any places to have fun in Mukdahan and recommendations for great local food?

Not a lot my friend only one place falang bar or as close as you will get Picking cowboy Thai owner thats about it

For food check out any of the big restaurants down on the river heading south from the river market. For night life there is the Kingdom night club,The Grand Hotel Pub.(which are excessively noisy) but pleasing on the eye, and then there's all the karaoke bars behind the tower (the airport control tower with out the airport) and a number of smaller venues scattered about the place.

The Best food in Mukdahan is at Mukdahan Manors - Song Fung Khong Restaurant referred to by many as Mr Dons, The menu is on the website, WWW.mukdahan-manor.com Check it out. For Mekong River Fish etc try Narin Restaurant a few 100 mtrs down from Makro on the same side. Night time entertainment is based around the Mukdahan Tower.
