I have a couple of old friends who may be visiting from the USA for the first time ever soon.

They have asked me what vaccinations are required to enter Thailand.

I remember my first visits many years ago and I did get vaccinations and even took something called larium (sp?) to prevent malaria before cumming here.

( BTW, my doctor later informed me that there was a very low risk of malaria where I was visiting, and since psychosis was a possible side effect of the larium, recommended that I not take i in the future!)

I also remember always carrying my yellow proof of immunization card with my pass port.

I was never asked to show my yellow card or provide any proof of immunization at the airport or anywhere else.

I stopped carrying it years ago.

I have not left Thailand for some years now and am not on top of what is required to enter the country.

Are my friends required to have an immunization card?

Note: I do not need any lectures on the necessity to be properly vaccinated against any possible illness or lectures against vaccinations from those who believe they are a hoax.

My friends are responsible adults and will ( probably already have ) taken care of any medical needs before arriving. Both are experienced world travelers.

Just wondering if anyone has ever been checked to see if they carry the immunization card when entering the country.

Can any recent travelers into LOS let me know?

No vaccinations are required except for Yellow Fever ONLY IF you've been in certain countries.

No requirement if coming from the US. No card required.

There are some RECOMMENDED vaccinations on the US Centers for Disease Control website.

As above. No legal requirements unless coming from countries endemic for yellow fever.

Medically, malaria prophylaxis is not needed either unless they will be spending the night in jungle areas.

when I came over for a trip a few years ago my doctor recomended hep a/b shots then a booster before the next trip. Said it was about the only thing to really worry about and there was no proof of shots needed.

Actually if intending to travel (and I don't mean the nanny-guide 5 star tour) in the jungle area close to Myanmar and Laos there are several things you should know. (There are still a couple of nasty things you can get)

Else none.....
