The figures for Thai women being raped by their "land of smile" opposite gender has reached epidemic proportions, many are left to die, or are murdered after the act.

Age is no barrier with a 70 year old woman dragged into a hedge raped and murdered in Hua-Hin.

It is now amongst the highest in the world.......... FACT.

In this latest post he puts Thailand as "amongst the highest in the world.......... FACT" for the offence of rape. In FACT it is listed on this site as number 27! In FACT such "civilised" countries as Australia, Canada, United States ,Iceland, New Zealand, United Kingdom, Spain, France, Norway, Netherlands, Denmark and Germany are worse.

Considering that most of our home countries made the top 20 list do you think there is a chance we are having an influence on Thai culture or we may be part of the problem and not the solution? I would also question some of the statistics on the list (although I am an American) I find it very hard to believe that Canada got the #5 spot and the USA came in at #9.

The figures you give refer to CONVICTIONS as you well know the police in Thailand are very poor and very corrupt, only in in 9 rapes are followed with a conviction, infact the police have been known to rape people in their custody, this is common in some areas and will result in all charges being dropped.

There is a very Thai habit of murder and rape which is very peculiar to south east asia and Thailand in particular.

The figures given are a nonsense, the third world has a problem with convictions and reperting of crimes giving a very strange look to the statistics.

While this might be true that some Rapes dont' even resolve into Convictions but that can very well be in other countries....i have been home based in South Africa for 15 years...do you think there is no corruption or do you think Police is "rich" there? Here some other Countries where there is a "slight" possibility of some Rapes not turning into Conviction too.

Seychelles, Montserrat , Jamaica, Zimbabwe, Bulgaria, Venezuela, Russia, Chile, Mexico , Costa Rica just to name a few.

Maybe the Rape Cases are on the increase...but not only in Thailand.

So the point of your post is irrelevant ...you would have to write why are Rapes on the increase around the World ...
