I have not heard that much about the place, but what I have heard has been good. No complaints from the few people that I know of that have stayed there. Probably a bit light on facilities maybe?

Well, we bit the bullet and booked the rooms at this place. It looks very good on the website, but they all do anyway. Will bump this thread again after we've stayed there, just as a follow-up. Meanwhile, thanks everyone who posted helpful info, recommendations and tips in this thread. If you're in Samui around 15th Jan next year, the beers are on me. Cheers!
September 22, 201411 yr Samui is past it's best. choose another location unless you enjoy young people drunk, dirty beaches and loud music until 3/4 in the morning. if you don't want to take my word for it look at the many other posts about the noise on Samui. Seriously? There's so many places on Samui you will not encounter any of the things you claim. It's not Phuket, it's certainly not Pattaya and is a wonderful island that now offers the best of both worlds with modern cons now.
January 21, 201511 yr Author Popular Post *bump* Just came back from Samui on Sunday. The Honey Cottages resort we stayed at on Choeng Mon beach was really good. Great staff, complimentary taxi from airport, and the rooms are reasonably spacious, spotless and well-serviced. The paths between the rooms are concrete steps over ponds filled with Koi carp and Catfish; looks great, but have to be careful if its raining, or if you're unsteady on your feet or inebriated. The beach itself was pretty empty, not many people staying at this area. Dunno if that's due to to the Russian currency dropping recently? The beach has a cove at one side, that people used for swimming, sunbathing etc. quite a lot of litter on the beach also, but put that down to the storm that preceded our arrival on the 13th-14th. Some people were picking up garbage in the mornings afterwards. During our stay, we went out to the night market at Fisherman's Village; very busy and a bit cramped for walking, but good shopping, ambience, and street foods. Also went to the Waterfalls at Na Muang, we took the 4x4 taxi up to the falls as my Mum and Dad didn't fancy the hike up there. The drivers of these 4x4's seem to enjoy scaring their occupants, but thankfully our nutcase's brakes seemed well-maintained. Animal shows at the Waterfalls are best avoided (same as anywhere else in Thailand, tbh), basically, with some idiot barking into a mic at 160dB throughout the 'show'. We visited the "popular" beaches Chaweng and Lamai during the daytime, basically to do a bit of 'retail therapy' (shopping). Good shopping for clothing, footwear, food, and pleasant atmosphere. Mum got her hair done somewhere in Central Mall, and was well-pleased with the results. (Some poor lass had to sculpture Mum's 'brillo' hair into something resembling order and style; so she probably has equal skills in metalwork ). Most places we went out to eat were very good, usually without the mandatory (entitled and dysfunctional) 10% 'service charge' pervasive to places like Phuket. Great seafood and Western pizzas and steaks to be found virtually everywhere. Service usually pretty good also. Tbh, before we arrived, I thought Samui would be like Phuket;- could not have been more wrong.. All in all, a very enjoyable mini-holiday, that didn't last long enough imo. We all enjoyed ourselves immensely, and won't wait so long to return again. Thanks again to all that contributed to the thread and gave us some helpful advice. Wish we had met you there.

February 11, 201511 yr I think you should read this book What might worry three Italian pensioners dedicated to a well earned rest on holiday in a place like Koh Samui island in Thailand? Convulsions during a swim after an abuse of beer? Or rather a heart attack caused by an excess of viagra in old age? http://www.amazon.com/The-frogs-Samui-Paolo-Agaraff-ebook/dp/B00TBGJZ82/ref=zg_bsnr_10159381011_6
