Money Order (Paper Style)

Featured Replies

I'm looking for a source in Chiang Mai to purchase a Money Order (paper type) and one that's payable in Euros not Thai Baht.

It's complicated, I need to get money order for a small amount (30 Euros) and need to leave the payee blank because I'm not 100% who to make it out to. The payee is an Italian Governmental Agency so there's nothing illegal going on I just don't want to guess wrong on the payee info and have a problem. Would rather let the payee fill in correctly.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Options like PayPal, Western Union, Money Gram, and others like this are not an option. The guidance I was provided was "Please note that the acceptable payment methods (eg. international bankers draft, postal cheque, eurogiro etc)".

I tried all the banks at Central Festival and when asking for a "Money Order" it gets interpreted as "you want to Order Money". Kind of like a merry-go-round, "Spinning in Circles" and going no where.

Here's the need again.

Paper Money Order or similar solution

Payable in Euros

Ability to leave the payee blank

Currently, I'm looking at sending cash which is not recommended.

Thanks in Advance

I don't know where you can get a money order in EUR, but as they accept bank drafts, why not just have your bank send a check? Just need to confirm the payee first.

Have you tried the post office? That's where I always used to buy mine when I needed them in various countries.

and need to leave the payee blank..... Would rather let the payee fill in correctly.

Leaving the payee blank is the very same risk as sending cash. No difference at all. Anyone can fill in their name and get the money.

Hey, this process is not perfect, I understand the pros and cons of what I'm doing. But keep in mind, it's going to multiple Italian Government offices for action and I should be ok, right? If I were sending something to a Thailand Governmental office and decided to send cash would I not be alright as well?

I just need a couple of police reports from Italy. If you can't trust the police who can you trust, Right?

I was able to solve the problem. One of the large full service Bangkok Bank location was able to provide an International Banker's Draft (basically looks like a check) payable in Euros from a bank in Milan Italy.
