Private tutor travel expenses

To those that do private tutoring at student's home:

Do you include travel costs in your hourly fee or or do you get a supplementary fee for travel expenses? What is a fair fee per kilometer/area?

Possibly depends on your qualifications, the rate you are charging and the availability of them finding someone else.

I have only taught high school and expect them to meet at a coffee shop near my home.

I was once asked to teach elementary school kid from international school at his home for one hour.

I told them for 2 hours lesson I would travel for free but wanted traveling money for only one hour. (About 30 minutes travel each way)

I never heard back from them.

They were lazy to travel but not wanting to pay for me to travel.

Well, the only steady customers were found at language centers. TBH, every single person who has asked me about getting lessons failed to follow through. Seems like some polite thing for small talk, pretending to want to do something...
