So the missus received her email today at 9am saying a decision had been reached. I'm hung over today so kindly ask someone to my understanding of when we can collect her passport. The email states:

THAILAND APPLICANTS: documents can be collected from the visa application centre after 2 working days. Collection times are Monday-Friday 10.00 - 16.00 and Saturday 08.30 - 12.00.

Am I being overly optimistic if we count the email receipt day as a working day and go to collect on Wednesday? I don't want to waste a 2h trip to Bangkok!

Thanks Dave, I'm going to try and call them later as well (not sure how that will go mind you ;)).

As someone working in IT I could offer them done great improvements to KCI emails!

Hi jojo , im waiting for conformation for the exact same visa as you . May i ask when you had your initial appointment in Bangkok so i can estimate how much longer we will have to wait ? .

Also when you say a decision had been reached , they told you that the application was accepted right ? .

Ive just been reading some of the other posts and just found that out ! Absolutely ridicules ! What could possibly be the reasoning for that then ? We stay in Phuket so i have already had to fork out for two return flights Phuket to bkk and back to Phuket again . My plan was as soon as we received conformation of her visa then i could book two tickets back to the u.k and fly to bkk the day before to pick up her passport and fly back to England the day after .

Now she will receive the email and have to pack her bags and get ready to go as if the visa WILL be granted. How gutted will she be if its rejected ! ? She will have to leave her job also . And on top of all that it will cost me a fortune for the flights as i cant risk pre booking them until i get 100% conformation that the visa is granted - UNBELIEVABLE !!!

Do you know anybody in Bangkok who you trust and could collect it for you?

They would need the original receipt, a letter of authorisation from the applicant with a copy of the applicants ID Card, and a copy of the passport or ID Card of whoever is collecting it for you.

They could tell you the outcome and EMS the passport or hand it to you in BKK.

Just a thought.

I think someone from immigration must have been reading this topic because would you believe 20 mins after my last post we had an email through saying the passport is ready for collection !

Ready for collection in two working days it says . Ive booked a flight to Cambodia on saturday so we will collect the documents and passport friday and hope its a positive outcome otherwise the week holiday in Cambodia will be an anti-climax for her knowing she cant return to England with me the week after.

Fingers crossed everything will work out for the best.

jamo 99, you could have paid the 250 baht for courier delivery of the passport back to Phuket at the time of application !

http://www.vfsglobal.co.uk/thailand/user_pay_services.html#4

The system is not ridiculous, VFS are just the administrators of the service so they are not party to any decisions.

If you had done any research on here and asked the relevant question whilst at VFS in Bangkok then you would not be in this situation.

Yes in hind sight that would have been the best option . I did see the courier option but i was under the impression the main purpose of the email / sms service was to confirm the outcome of the application . And then the plan was to fly to Bangkok DMK and collect the passport on route to suvarnabhumi Airport and then fly straight back to manchester.

Either way its done now so we will just have to hope for a positive outcome

Just thought I'd post to say Dave was right, I picked up the visa today so the day the email was sent counts as one of the working days. Sorry couldn't help about processing times, we paid a little over 5k extra for priority processing!
