^^^ RW...+5! I second that...wonderful footage & score. I know some of the locations

in his video too. Hmmmmm...I may have to learn how to fly one of those jobbers to

do aerials of the soi dogs for the film!!! Something else to think about...hah!

Here's two interesting links about UAV's I just scarfed from the web.

The firs seems to be a compendium of great info and the second is

from a feller who built his own UAV...for a very reasonable price.

Yes M...that carbon Core jobber looks very nice...but at a huge price.

Then there's DJI's S1000.....link below...

Where to learn to fly one out here though?

You learn to fly the thing in the sky.

Forget your childhood dreams of a remote control helicopter.

This is how I want to use the Go Pro, as long as it's got a cup holder for my cup of tea and a cigarette holder, I'm willing to purchase.

Ha-Ha!

Back to reality....here's a link to a vdo shot on the GPH4....Hmmmmmm...

Perhaps a thread dedicated to GP cameras should be started?

Aerials, POV's, etc...etc...

This one looks fast which could be a bad thing depending on your pilot skills.

For video you want smooth transitions, which means setting "gain" to low. Gain is the reaction rate of the system.

I'm not one for really high up work, but I like the low level slow and smooth footage.

Gopro Hero 4 on a 3D gimbal on a hexacopter with fully retractable undercarriage, with 20-25min flight time and a signal range of 1km seems about ideal. You can adapt the Fatshark Predator v2 FPV headset to see through the GoPro for FPV flying and filming.

Bothered about portability, your MJP has continued to scour the net for options to lift a GoPro around the heavens.

The Pocket Drone is well worth a look and doesn't look as intimidating as the models we've looked at so far.

http://www.gizmag.com/pocket-drone-folding-tricopter/30457/

Not available yet, but I'm wating for something which will do what I want which is:

1. GPS controlled;

2. Can haul a GoPro around the sky;

3. Very portable;

4. Very light and low risk of injury;

5. Can fly low and slow.

Oh my MJP....what have we started here!?

I had a good look at many UAV websites & have come away a bit

confused...but enlightened. This has made me realise that I am

eventually gonna buy one but first I'm gonna get a "toy" jobber

available at almost any store that carries toys...except here in

Ranong as there none that have even the toy copters. Hatyai

has em though...problem solved. Then I'll learn how to fly the

toy jobber, at least if I crash it a few times I may be able to

fix it meself (super glue/PVC glue etc). Once I get fairly good

at flying the toy I'll progress into something a bit more complicated,

perhaps like this...

I have looked at this OFM site a few times in the past & their

prices seem reasonable...at least at the get-go!

The AirDog UAV also looks nice too....decisions, decisions!

Hey SS you mentioned learning to fly something cheap, heres one you can get for 2000B on ebay.

Now this is a good idea. I'm not so worried about flying that into my head.

Don't worry it has guards around the props which are not installed in that video.

It's the carbon fibre props you really need to avoid flying into your face apparently.

@ Goshawk for twice the price you can get the Syma its range is 80 metres I think, I don't think the Proto X goes very far.

Plus for the price it has a 2mp camera on board so you can practice filming skills too.

RW...Thanks for this info...currently upgrading a compact camera (old G12 to Fuji X20/30)

however...this is affordable and looks like fun. Cheers!

Haha, what is the deal with all these do-it-yourself drones? biggrin.png

Anyway, how do you guys actually get your GoPro 4 - considering it's not officially released in Thailand yet?

Shipping from the official website to here seems to be 80 bucks which makes it kinda more expensive than what the list prices are rumored to be (http://www.richardbarrow.com/2014/10/gopro-hero-4-in-thailand/comment-page-1/#comment-299353)

My gf also showed me this thai bargain hunting website. There they say you can get it from HK for less than the future thai price if you play your promo-cards right (http://buynai.net/product/gopro-hero-4-silver/)

Any tips?

Dunno, I haven't ordered yet. The Hero 4 Black is still on pre-order with Amazon in Blighty and the availability date is presently the 5th of Nov. Silver edition seems to be shipping now, but don't want that one.

Got it.

Hmm, seems like amazon UK is even more expensive than in Thailand (369 pounds for the black one versus 18,500 THB for the black one). Guess I will be waiting for a good deal in LOS then, hehe

How important is the 4k capability in your views?

I've been having fun with my GoPro Hero 2 but it's not the simplest thing to set up and use. I like the look of the Hero 4 Silver as it has a touch screen - but will 4K become more important?

I don't have a 4K TV or laptop - but is it being a bit short sighted to go for the Silver now and do you reckon it's worth going for the Black with the accessory screen?

I use the Hero 2 mainly for motorbike videos uploaded to Youtube.

It's 120fps at 1080p that's of most interest.

There is a noticable difference in contrast between the black and silver.

I just had a look for the original video I watched but since then there are 100's of new reviews drowning it.
