Hello!

I write to ask you some questions about how to apply for a Non-Immigrant Visa B for Teaching.

Luckily I've got a job offered as an English teacher at a local school near Bangkok. I'm staying in Thailand on a

visa exemption stamp and still got more than 3 weeks left in it. The director of my school is going to prepare all

the documents for me to apply for a Non-Immigrant Visa B for Teaching and then a work permit.

Here are my questions.

1. Can I go straight to The Central Government Complex on Chaeng Watthana Rd in Bangkok with the documents

to apply for a Non-Immigrant Visa for Teaching, OR will I have to go to The Embassy or The Consulate of Thailand

in Laos or Malaysia to obtain a tourist visa before going to the Government Complex to apply for the a Non-Immigrant

Visa B for Teaching?

2. I'm actually waiting for my graduation certificate and transcript to be sent to me here from home now. It'll take some

more time, and they might not reach me here before my stamp to stay in Thailand expires in about 3 weeks.

I*m currently staying in Thailand on the 3rd visa exemption stamp this year. Do you think it possible for me to make a

visa run to Laos or Malaysia by land to get some more days to stay in Thailand, OR is it better to obtain a Thai tourist

visa in Laos or Malaysia to stay on the safe side? I can get all the documents in hand that the director of my school is

going to prepare for me to apply for a Non-Immigrant Visa B for Teaching, though.

3. The website of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand refers to *Police Certificate* verifying that the applicant has

no criminal record or equivalents or letter issued by authorised agencies in applicant’s country. (The requirement of

the submission of such police certificate is optional. The applicant must submit it if consular officer requests he/she to

do so. This requirement is effective as from May 2007.)

http://www.mfa.go.th/main/en/services/123/15388-Non-Immigrant-Visa-%22B%22-(for-Business-and.html

Do you really need to submit this Police Certificate to apply for a Non-Immigrant Visa B for Teaching? It says that

this is OPTIONAL. To be honest I'll have to fly back home to obtain one because I have to apply for one IN PERSON

back home and it'll take 2 weeks. I can't go back home now.

4. I will also have to submit a TOEIC score as I'm not a native speaker of English. Some websites say that you

can only take the test on Wednesday unless you have a Non-Immigrant Visa on you.

Can you take the text on another day of the week? How long will it take you to get the score? Should I make

a booking for the text?

Thank you for your time!

No, you can’t go straight to Chaeng Watthana. That’s only for those who already have a work permit.

2. I'm actually waiting for my graduation certificate and transcript to be sent to me here from home now. It'll take some

more time, and they might not reach me here before my stamp to stay in Thailand expires in about 3 weeks.

Okay, your life experience degree will take a few weeks, but might be here in time. How can they not reach you, if you can reach them? I mean, if you’ve really graduated somewhere, why would you not get it sent to you?

I*m currently staying in Thailand on the 3rd visa exemption stamp this year. Do you think it possible for me to make a

Whatever will happen, three weeks is too short. But you’ll face a lot more other difficulties. If your degree is not in English, it has to be translated into Thai and verified. That can take some time as well.

3. The website of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand refers to *Police Certificate* verifying that the applicant has

no criminal record or equivalents or letter issued by authorised agencies in applicant’s country. (The requirement of

They never asked me for such a certificate in ten years of teaching. Seems that this is not really necessary. Even if they want one, you could authorize somebody in your home country to do it for you. Or apply for it from your embassy in Bangkok. No need to fly back home.

No need to fly back home. I don’t know of any countries, where people have to apply for that in person.

You need to be on a Non –B, or a Non-O, to do the TOEIC in Bangkok, but also other places in Thailand offer this test.

Can you take the text on another day of the week? How long will it take you to get the score? Should I make

a booking for the text?

I guess you meant the test, not a text? They do this in Bangkok on six days a week. You can pick your certificate up the next day.And yes, you'll have to have an appointment.

Thank you for your time!

Best of luck and welcome to the jungle. Might take a while for you to understand what I'm on about. facepalm.gif

Per above, you do not appear to have the correct paperwork ready to apply for a conversion, so you must first apply for a non-B at a neighboring country.

Than you need to get a teaching license or waiver of the license, for which you might need a TOEIC test or likewise and then you can apply for the WP. Working without a work permit is illegal.

Hi there!

Thank you for your quick replies! I have some more questions to ask you now.

1. Which one do I have to obtain first, a Non-B for Teaching or a work permit? I heard that you must obtain a Non-B for Teaching first, though.

2. My graduation certificate and transcript (both written in English, of course) are on the way to Thailand from home now. However, I really

wonder how long it will take. It should take a week or two. It might take even longer. They could lose their way, too. You never know because

a letter that I sent off at GPO in Chiang Mai lost its way to one of my friends back home several years ago.

As you know, I need to have my graduation certificate and transcript (plus a TOEIC score) in hand to apply for a Non-B for Teaching. The

problem is they might not reach me here from home before my stamp expires in about 3 weeks. In this case I'll have to leave Thailand to

make a visa run for another stamp or a Thai tourist visa before coming back to Thailand to get all the procedure done. Is it possible for me

to make a visa run for another stamp or is it safer for me to obtain a Thai tourist visa in Laos or Malaysia? I've heard about stories of some

visa-runners having been denied re-entry into Thailand. Yes, The Thai Army have started to crack down on them.

3. Yes, it is a TEST, NOT a text! 555 Do you know how to make an appointment? By e-mailing them? Do you think I can make an appointment

by e-mail and take the TEST the next day? What time will you get the score the next day? In the morning or afternoon?

Thank you again for your time!

Sorry, but there are so many threads, where you can read all about it. Yes, you’ll need your Non-B first, as you won’t get a work permit on a tourist visa.

You wrote that you’re a non-native English speaker. These degrees are not – of course- written in English, when let’s say graduated in Germany. Of course not, if it’s a lifetime experience degree.

As you know, I need to have my graduation certificate and transcript (plus a TOEIC score) in hand to apply for a Non-B for Teaching. The

Your English is quite irritating, to be honest. What’s the difference between a “visa run for another stamp” and a “Thai tourist visa in Laos, or Malaysia?” Please see visa section for clarification.

In my last post, I had attached a link with the TOEIC test center’s phone number, E-mail address and more. You can get an appointment, via phone, but you’ll have to be on a Non- immigrant visa to do so. Here’s another link: http://cpathailand.co.th/?article=8

Applying as a teacher you do not need to apply for the WP first. First get the non-B with paperwork from the school, than apply for the waiver of the teaching license and then apply for a work permit.

How can you apply for a Non-B, if you don't have a degree yet? As far as i remember wants the Thai consulate to see a degree, plus transcripts.

Hi there!!!!

Peoplleee!!!! Do I really need to have non B to take TOEIC in Thai?????

It goes like first I should find a school, that makes me non B, then pass the test?

I thought I would come to Thai with my Tourist visa, pass TOEIC, find a school to teach Thai sweeties and then get all of the necessary docs and work.

The more I surf the forum, the more I m surprised...

Sorry, guess it was a misunderstanding. You do not need a Non-B visa for the TOEIC.
