Usefull activities for children during holliday

My Thai wife gas two children. This week they have a holliday for three weeks.

I live close to Sriracha.

Dus anyone have any suggestions where the children could stay during that time and do something usefull.

Thay are 6 and 7 years old.

It is really complicated to have them at home all that time course of the bussiness of my wife

The only option i found is nursery where they let children play a whole day games to keep them quiet and do nothing else.

Suggestions are very welcome.

Most schools for students that age have classes even during the holiday. You might check with the school.

You could also teach them at home during that time. You didn't mention your schedule, just your wifes busy schedule.

I accompany my wife when she is out for bussiness.

We are looking for a place where they can stay for three weeks the whole day, but they get to do something else than keeping them quiet and let them play games.

6 and 7 year olds are hardly useless.

They can paint. So if you need your bathroom painted, they can do that.

They can dry clothes. Attach the clothes to their back and let them run wild.

There are many more useful things and I have tested them all on my own 6 y.o. daughter.

To be more constructive in my reply, of course, there are many things for 6 and 7 year olds to do in their holiday time.

If you actually just "google" activities for 6 and 7 year olds on the internet there is a myriad of choices of things to do depending on what your children like or dislike! Pick and choose the activities you want depending on how much you wish to be a part of each one they do....fully involved or spectator? A couple of kids that age will wear any one down over time.....enjoy!

Just been in BKK for 4 days with wife and son, shopping, sightseeing and nice dinners.

Can't your wife take some time off, and you can drive/fly somewhere.

Yes most schools have a holiday program, English as an eksample.

What's wrong with this? What did you do when you were 6 or 7 and on school holiday? This is pretty much what I did and it never hurt me none.

Clean the house. Do the laundry. Dig the garden if you have one. Wash the car. Touch up the paintwork. . . Need I go on?

Well, Broeno, it looks like you are getting few serious responses. If they are your wife's kids, I wonder why she has not gotten more involved. Nevertheless, why don't you allow them to accompany you and your wife in her business? You would have a chance to bond with them and they with you.

In general it seems to me that Thai women (Men?) have absolutely no idea what to do with kids. We have our niece staying (8 yr old). I've bought some games and puzzles she can do in the home; then there are the other obvious activities such as playing ball, frisbee (etc) in the park, going for a small bike ride, drawing and painting pictures. Keep the programme varied and active. Children need interaction with adults: this teaches socialisation amongst other things. When did you ever see a Thai person play a board game with their kids? (rarely!) You can do this most days: UNO is a great game as are dominoes, drafts (or draughts?) and so on. Every other day we take her somewhere interesting: Ice Skating at the mall (she loves this and getting quite proficient); a walk around the moat early evening or a drive to an interesting place (last week we went to Baan Dam in Chiang Rai). Afternoon you can bake cakes or make some other sweet/savoury item. For the quiet times, give them some interesting books that will absorb/educate (not stupid comics or Disney type stuff). All of these interactions will mean the child has had some input and go to bed quite content with the day. We are more than a week in with the niece and we haven't switched the telly on yet. At her home she is dumped 24/7 in front of telly, electronic device or whatever. Never do I see any direct input. That's not the way to go. Dumping kids in a holiday nursery is not the way to go either. Kids NEED parental input.

Khaow Keow open Zoo is great. Can driving car around. Buy a lot of vegetables near entrance gate for feeding many kind of animals. Kids love it. Been many times.

How can you say 6 and 7 years ols children are useless. Ask yourself the same quiestion about adults.

Thanks many of you for your replys.

When i would stay at home with the children, we dont have any transport because my wife is using the car in daytime.

And yes she dus not know very well what to do with the children as many other Thai parents.

One of the reasons is that she let them live in up country and has not so many skills for that.

The children only speak a few words English an i dont speak Thai.

Some suggest to just let them play games whole day.

I see many Thai teenagers still doing it when they are at the job, or some funny gay suggest "let them sell roses on the street"

Because i feel a responsabillety for their future, i am looking something that makes sense for them.

When I was young and playing a game with my parents or grandparents it was usually some sort of boardgame or card game, Scrabble, checkers, Rummy, Crazy Eights, you name it, there are many! I know playing cards are frowned upon here as it is associated with gambling so that may not be the best choice but surely there must be similar types of games you can play that will take up part of the time anyways! Make a game! Bilingual scrabble ! English alphabet but can spell either English or Thai words! (Actually that's a pretty darn good idea , I should maybe patent that!) non-disclosure agreement to follow ha ha Ha!). Buy and put together a train set? start a rock collection? gather as many weird looking insects as you can find without going to the refrigerator! Build a tree fort! Hopscotch! Hide and seek. Croquet. Badminton. Dodgeball outside with wet sponges. Build a clubhouse and form a secret society with your own secret handshake and everything, invite all the neighbors kids. Tag. Painting , fingers or brush! Or the house! Anyways lots to do and you don't have to break the bank to do them.

Oh, there is a big reservoir just past that Tiger zoo in Siracha, Nongkham or something like that? I would bet there's got to be some fish in there!

From what the OP writes it does seem that the nursery is the best option. The aim to somehow instill some new values within a short time frame seems ambitious and the children will have a better time mixing with local kids in games or whatever the nursery offers. No other place springs to mind in terms of somewhere to have children out of the house and unattended by him or the mother and that is what I read as the key intention.
