Starbucks & Swensen's Night Bazaar Closed for...

Featured Replies

I did a quick drive through the NB this afternoon and noticed that the large building they're part of was being remodeled or something. Does anyone know what the plans are for the building there on that busy corner, opposite McDonald's?

Do you mean Haagen Daz? I don't think that Swenson's has been in the Night Bazaar for many years.

I think you're right UG. I haven't been in either for a good 6 yrs at least. Don't really care much if either stays or goes. More just wondering what the plan is for that part of the NB.

I am not a fan of either place. It is easy to find coffee as good as Starbucks for a much cheaper price and although I love Haagen Daz, it is WAY too expensive in Thailand. I was kind of hoping there was a Swenson's that I had missed.
Butter is Better has the best ice cream for the price in Chiang Mai, that I know of, and it is very close to that location. He only has a few basic flavors, but they are very good quality at a bargain price considering the rich taste.

At the risk of veering wildly off topic my favourite ice cream at the moment is cold stone creamery in central festival - although the prices make it an occasional treat ;)

I left America, and it followed me here. SB, BK, HDas, McD, Coldstone, KFC, etc etc. Although to be fair, most of it was here before I arrived. Can Walmart be far behind?

Well you know how pervasive the culture is when you can simply ask a tuk tuk driver for "Soi McDonal".

I don't think they're offering it anymore

Back to the OP, a Starbucks barista told me today that the building is being renovated and that the Starbucks that was there will return for business.

These days, ChicoG, that could get you dropped off in about 8 different places.

The Starbuck's is still doing business, this for you for just 135B.

and you have to pay 135 baht to help them do it.

I wouldn't pay 13.5 baht for it in a mug.
