Hi all,

Maybe this belongs in the motorbike thread but I thought I would try my luck here as it is location specific.

Does anyone have the contact details for a Title transfer agent in Chiang Mai (or Lamphun) I have all the documents needed to transfer a motorbike I recently bought from Pattaya. But I would prefer to use an agent rather than subject myself to the hassle I pessimistically predict I will encounter. Much better for me to relax at he Downunder bar and pay some one else to deal with it for me. I tried Google but no joy; however, I have the phone numbers for hundreds of shuttle bus touts (transfer agents) if anyone needs one 555.

Thanks in advance

The Thai dept of motor vehicles is well organized and easy to deal with here in Chiangmai. I have never heard of a single person having a problem when they go in with the proper paperwork. And with patience if you do not speak Thai.

From your words I would say you are just moving the vehicle and want to reregister here. I would guess that at the most you would need some proof of a residence address in addition to the motorcycle ownership paper and the old registration and insurance papers. And, of course, your passport showing the visa. And, to save time, might as well take in copies of everything.

As an alternative, the local agent for your insurance can probably do it for you for a small fee and some wait time. I know my auto insurance company offers that service but I always renew the registration myself because it is so easy.

Thanks for the reply Noise,

No it is transfer ownership, I have only just bought the bike from the previous owner in Pattaya. I read a transfer ownership walk through from a poster here on TV and I though 'walk through' a misnomer. also I must get it done in Lamphun as this is the province where I live but thought the chances of finding a Lamphun agent pretty slim.

I go to Chiang Mai on Monday to get my proof of residence, apply one day but receive the next and thought my rare visit to the big smoke could be better spent than undergoing what the walk through poster endured. But if I have to I will Mai Bpen Rai

Thanks again for the reply
