People have ridiculed Yingluck for her overseas education in the US, at a university not well-admired by the former commentaries on this website. Would Yingluck have received a better education in her own country, leading to her PM position? It's a rhetorical question since I believe the answer is obvious, if you consider how many women in Thailand have political power or prominence, having used any education as their launch to success.

Do you think the fact her billionaire brother who happens to own the political party which plucked her from nowhere to be the PM might be more of a reason for her astonishing rise to the position of PM and DM? Rather than the first class education she received at a rather academically obscure US university?

A hugely rich family, who could easily afford any of the top educational institutions in the world choose a very low ranking unheard of one. Why not Harvard, MIT, Yale, Oxford, Cambridge? Money is not a barrier. Must be something else. Any ideas?

Yingluck has demonstrated the results of her education for all to see.

I saw Yingluck being interviewed on American TV where she needed an interpreter. I wondered how she got through all the lectures at the American University she attended and passed the exams. Did brothers generous donation to the Universty have anything to do with it perhaps ??

Yep. And all her assignments, tests, exams and that big dissertation would need to have been written in English.

What a pathetic bunch of misogynists. Jesus wept.

Crap. No one is attacking Yingluck based on her sex. She is being attacked for her performance in office and for now trying to patronize a very brave young lady and hopefully pick up some kudos.

Another example of the Shin PR team who ghost write her social media postings.

Wow! You could tell all that from that remark. So if I defend a woman, I'm an anarchist, trying to destabilize the current elected administration. It's remarkable that TVF always seems to attract fruit cakes like this one. Sheesh!

Insulting people who don't agree with your blatant sophistry is a further expression of your intellectual capacity.

Your defense was to accuse any who dare speak against Yingluck of being misogynists i,e that they speak against her because she is a woman. I expressed the view that it was more to do with her poor performance whilst in office and the very blatant use of PR/lobbyists to write her social media posts to gain some form of political advantage rather than as an expression of her own sentiments.

Your rant about being an anarchist trying to destabilize the current government is a figment of your own imagination. You brought this up, no one else.

Talking of fruit cakes.....

The former PM made a tribute to a brave young girl.It

had no ulterior purpose than an expression of admiration. The moronic element on this forum want to politicise it.If you wish to be associated with these louts that's your choice,

Oh, stop being so pompous and rude.

Calling everyone whose view you don't like a moron and louts.

How do you know what Yingluck's or her PR teams intention was? Did she give you a call for a chat and some advice. You think it had no ulterior motive, that's your opinion not a fact in the slightest.

Do you really believe Yingluck and other prominent members of her family really write all their own social media posts?

If you want to be another Shin apologist lickspitle, that's your choice.

The thread is about Yingluck's tribute to a well deserved Nobel Laureate, perfectly appropriate and non-controversial

You and your kind have attempted to hijack the thread for your own ranting purposes. In the circumstances and given the subject matter, I think that disgraceful.Others might use a more colourful epithet.

But frankly what you and I think is neither here nor there. The purpose of the thread is to acknowledge Malala's courage, not your weird extremist politics.I suggest you take time to reflect on this and change your attitude.

I'm sorry but comments such as "go shopping", "too busy at the mall" etc etc. those are comments questioning her skills as a statesperson?

Did you or did you not call me me a red sympathizer for calling out the sexist remarks people were making? Baerboxer, sometimes I wonder if you have both oars in the water.

Absolutely!

As PM Ms. Yingluck was too busy and needed a team to post on her facebook page. Now as merely former dismissed PM she has seas of time and surely writes her own posts.

Mind you, this "Today, everywhere in the world women still face gender inequality in many areas, including education, and women are still the victims of violence and torture, she said." may be put at her front door as well. The remarks her brother made about a clone, thinking alike and giving advise seem to indicate a woman who either doesn't know how to escape from male clutches herself, or one who likes being told what to do.

She mention anything about the bravery and torture of the Karen girl abused and tortured by that couple that just walked free?

All on her watch

Barack Obama won 1.4 million US dollars with his Nobel peace prize. Malala was a joint winner so I assume she got 700,000 US Dollars.I really do think she should use some of her prize money to pay back th British National Health Service for all the treatment she got. What is she going to do with this massive amount of money? By the way,I still think the Nobel Peace Prize is a farce.

If you're going to call someone an idiot, it is probably wise to check your grammar before hitting the "add reply" button, lest it is oneself who ends up looking the idiot.

What an observant soul you are. Belting out a quick response before making a cuppa and missing a word hardly qualifies one as an idiot. Therefore, don't force me to go through every one of your posts to find a similar error and in turn call you an idiot. Let's just assume, based on your observations above that you are.

This post is about the PR machine of a former PM who was removed from office for an illegal act and is facing possible prosecution for others attempting to link hers to a young lady who has indeed deservedly won a Nobel prize. They hope some kudos will rub off. Politicians around the world do that. Obama and Cameron are prime examples. Naive to see any of this as sincere.

"You and your kind" - just can't help yourself can you. How insecure. You and those that share similar views (see the difference in description) use this as an excuse to heap praise on Yingluck - that is indeed disgraceful given events during her tenure, and just what the PR team want.

You are right, no one cares what we think and you are entitled to praise Yingluck if you wish. My politics are not extreme but I don't like corrupt regimes, that lie, cheat, put themselves above the law and are controlled by a convicted criminal fugitive who was never elected. You obviously believe Yingluck and PTP are not like that, nor controlled by Thaksin and that is up to you.

Obliviously no photo opportunities lately...

Will do anything to let people know she is still around.

Thing is Malala has done great things for the rights of young girls, and she did not give them useless "Made In China" tablet computers.

At least you've given up referring to yourself as a destabilizing anarchist!

Poor performance (which you translate as "statesperson" skills) includes her not bothering to attend parliament, or meetings she was supposed to chair, or answer questions in parliament, or make meaningful figures available. For someone pretending to champion women's rights, what did she actually do? Oh, yes she devised a reality TV show for ladies only with part of the top prize being able to accompany Yingluck on an overseas trip, And she offered to bring "a woman's touch" to the South China Seas discussions. A tad sexist don't you think?

The comments about shopping and malls maybe metaphors for skiving, avoiding ones duty, not bothering, and willful neglect. But then she was never really in charge, made any decisions or actually did anything anyway. Nothing to do with her sex. Her brother has used male puppets too.

Don't you think your haste to call people misogynists was a little over the top? But keep paddling round in circles if it makes you happy.

"Over the top"... Hmm... this comes from a man who spends most of his time posting incoherent anti-Yingluck drivel, accusing posters who disagrees with him of being ghost writers for the Shin PR team. Pretty rich coming from you, don't you think?

It's not really a comment about "correcting English" (because who really cares as long as what is written can be comprehended), it is a comment pointing out the hypocrisy of the accusation of idiocy exposed by the grammatical errors in the aforementioned post.

So many here (TVF) have swallowed, hook, line and sinker, the Yellow mantra of Shinawatra corruption, criminality, incompetence and idiocy that there has developed an impressive positive feedback loop whereby any and all accusations that conform to the above are accepted as fact not because there is sufficient evidentiary support but because of the existing body of (mostly) unsubstantiated and exaggerated accusations that are treated as fact by the biased, bigoted and ignorant of those amongst us. Lies and untruths piled atop more lies and untruths to the point where any old third rate idiot feels that he/she can get away with slinging whatever false or unsubstantiated slurs they want at any Shinawatra unquestioned.

Yingluck, as Prime Minister, performed admirably in what can only be described as extremely trying circumstances.

Is she the most intelligent, honest and brilliant lady that has ever lived?

No, but she is much closer to this than the opposite extreme where so many fascist TVF idiots place her.

So all the idiots out there should take note, people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones!

Even Amsterdam would struggle to write this much tripe in one sitting.

And there it goes... Intellectual thoughts out the window. It's like hearing from a neo-nazi, when he tried to explain why mixed marriages shouldn't be allowed. Because he keeps citing the mantra "Because white blood should stay white".

No in-depth or coherent explanation to why he believes that just a lot of indoctrinated rumblings of a person who is so lost in time in space that he forgot what the real world looks like.

So I ask the question I asked 'Chairman of the board', what has the Democrats done for the poor red and yellow that makes them better than the Shinawatras?

A small note, after tireless debates, I hate having to repeat myself that I'm neither red nor yellow. Thank you.

Well, we know where 42 Billion baht of it went,

Thaksin’s confiscated cash goes to Thai national debt repayments

The Thai government has decided to use 42 billion baht (1.3 billion dollars) confiscated from fugitive politician Thaksin Shinawatra and his family to help repay the country’s public debt, media reports said on Tuesday.

The Comptroller Department decided to use Mr. Thaksin’s money for national debt repayments after 46 billion baht were transferred to state coffers from 32 bank accounts in six commercial banks previously holding the frozen cash
