I had the fortune to get a ticket and free hotel in the usa so thought it would be a goo d time to bring the wife on vacation. Here's my experience and ymmv.

Filled out the online application which took about 15 minutes with a digital uploaded photo. Once done it gives you a deposit slip to print which has your case number and visa fee. This gets paid at krungsri bank. I did all this on Thursday morning. Friday morning i receive a email stating my payment is in the system and i can make a appointment for the interview. First available date was 7:30am today the 21st.

After reading up on this i prepared a short cover letter from me and the mrs. I then prepared supporting documents. Basically 3 catagories finance, home and family and business. I also updated all her account books. Altogether about 20 pages but really didnt take to long to assemble.

Now the interview which i believe and now imo cfm is the most important part for obtaining a usa tourist visa. What i will say is money is NOT a factor.

here are some questions all in under 5 minutes.

Where are you going? New York

Where are you staying? in a hotel (anywhere else i believe is a stike)

Do you know anyone in the usa? No (again i believe if you know people there its a strike)

Do you have a job? no but she is major sharehoder and director (job is a plus)

How much is your salary? 0.00 (0 is a strike)

Does your husband live in Thailand? yes (no would be a strike)

Does your husband have a job? yes (although they didnt ask for proof or any details)

thats the majority of the interview and they needed additional photos but theres a machine in the embassy. They gave us a tracking number and said two days. fyi they only read the very short cover letter and no other documents in the letter i requested a multi entry visa but that'll be a surprise.

Well done. Some months back a us citizen tried to do exactly same thing. He wanted to visit family and take his Thai wife of many years. She is in her 40,s ......She mentioned in interview that years ago she had worked in massage.( legit place) ...the io accused her of working in prostitution. When push his wife spat dummy and said "up to you" ....

Result no visa and barred for entering USA for something insane like 10 yes. Yes OP seems interview is top priority.

My husband got his 10 year TV without mentioning me.

He has an excellent job. Owns more than 1 house outright. Owns his car. Has money in the bank.

He listed 2 private addresses (my house in Maine, friend's house in SFO.) plus Las Vegas and NYC as destinations.

From the gate to the exit he was in the consular building for 20 mins.

Result : 10 year TV.
