For the Beer Connoisseurs in or near Ubon

I found a shop which offers a huge variety of Belgium beers and to my surprise even matching glassware for the specific beers. Besides the approximately 30 different kinds of Belgium Beers, I saw a German Beer and Laos Lager / Dark.

I had a little chat with the owner ( he speaks some English ). You can sit there and enjoy a cold beer or two ( which I did :) ) and/or you can just buy some bottles or even cases to take home. They also have some food and snacks...very limited selection...however, the burger was delicious. Their shop set up is very basic...but I didn't care much since I was there to taste some of the beers :)

It's located near Thung Si Muang Park. Here are the GPS cordinates 15.233908, 104.853316

The name of the place is: The Bottle Shop

Hey NiwPix that sounds really great mate. Thanks for posting that.

I don't have a GPS for the coordinates but Googled the Park so that will be easy to find I am sure. The locals will be able to direct us the last bit.

I live northish of Khon Kaen and only rarely get to Ubon R but I will definitely look out for The Bottle Shop as well as your place.

Hopefully you guys can give him enough turnover to keep him in business until I get there.

I wish we had something like his shop in my town.

Nice find Niwpix. Nuddy, I doubt the locals around the park would know about it as according to the GPS coordinates it is on Phichitrangsan road which is a few blocks away.

Just beyond that funny roundabout - would that be right niwpix?

Yes, right beyond the attempt of a roundabout...on the left hand side :)

They have been open for about a month now, so I don't think too many of the locals know about it yet. If you go to google maps and enter the coordinates it will show you the location.

" Didines restaurant/pub in Khon Kaen has some really good american ales." Is that not an oxymoron?

You seem to have missed that during the last 10-20 years or so, a lot of microbreweries from USA make pale ales, india pale ales and similar of very high quality. So i am not talking about Budweiser or Coors...

Issanben many thanks again.

Looks like there is a lot more around the place than I thought.

Some of this stuff beats sitting around with the Thai family and the Monks huh?

By crikey I could go wild but then the where we go, we go together might mess with that, hehe

Drat sad.png ............Thought I was going to read...."British REAL ALE in Ubon"..............sad.png

Don't think a cask conditioned ale would travel too well, particularly after having sat on the dock at BKK for a couple of days in 38° heat! bah.gif

But Belgian beer is good. Usually expensive, but good. Handily, it's just up the road from the outlaws' place where I'll be staying in a couple of months, so I'll give it a whirl while I'm there. burp.gif.pagespeed.ce.RBpw6FUyRR.gif

I think there is one in the Pullman in Khon Kaen.

Kronen Brauhaus is the first microbrewery in a Thai hotel, and is located in The Underground entertainment complex. Lovers of good food and beer will enjoy watching it being produced, not to mention tasting the final result.
