British police arrive in Thailand to observe Koh Tao murder probe

That 120m baht is probably nothing but gossip, but on the off chance it's true.... it could buy the silence of quite a few. 120m baht is a lot of money in Thailand. Make no bones about that.

For the local cops and their bosses in Phangan and Surat, yes. But if there really were a cover up going right to the top of the police force and higher it would be chicken feed. But perhaps that is supposed to be just a deposit and installments would need to be maintained for some time which is allegedly how police pay for their posts.

This is facilitation money but don't forget that there are many others that just wish to save face and be brought out as to what drives their income and their complicity in other illegal acts. These families have a lot on the coppers as well plus one has strong links to a political party in Surat who links to good ol suthep ...

Murders have been going on on these three islands for donkey's mate. Largely the cops know and choose not to investigate. Then you have the illegal people smuggling trade drugs arms the extortion rackets. This has the potential to bring down many many rank and file. It's all protectionism.

It would be odd if the headman wasn't there. In any village in the country it would make sense for the headman to be contacted when any murder occurs much less the double murder of 2 foreigners.

I promised myself I wasn't going to talk to you today-anyway the brothers were there (headman and mon) before the police..mon stayed on when the police arrived looking a little nervy I may add to assist with the crime scene.

Do you find that arrangement a little odd?

I find it very odd that he was there. He has nothing to with or can contribute to the investigation. Professional police forced Control crime scene and keep access to the are minimum and only those with a specific task are permitted in. In Australia we don't call out the local councillors to come view a serious crime scene they will read about it in the papers or are briefed by Mayors or premiers of the state who also are not called out to major crime scenes. Local councillors, mayors or premiers have no say in the running of police but it appears in Thailand the police are controlled by the local headman or mafia. No requirement other than to contaminate a crime scene for them to be there.

Very simple and basic answer as to why it happens like this in Thailand - most crimes, even with the slightest whiff of some one special involved are purposely screwed from the start and in many cases with a pre-determined outcome.

It would only have been odd if he wasn't there.

Faulty logic. (in that it fails to address a basic truism)

In any small locale in Thailand the village head is immediately notified of major events. Nothing is more major than a brutal double homicide of 2 foreigners in a tourist spot.

Yes, not just money. There are past political favours to be repaid as per the connections to venerable Suthep I have posted before.Jd will say this is rumor but it aint. Anyone can google and research Headman`s PDRC links to venerable uncle Suthep jn Surat Thani province.

And who then owes Ven Suthep? The good PM and other regime generals.

Where is the good Pol Comm General Somyot? Can anyone confirm his whereabouts unknown, sickleave etc?

That link to suthep you will find extremely important in the coming weeks.

Strong show of support for the island a week ago when he was in Koh Tao in his monk robes. What a good man of sound moral character :)

Is one single person surprised by this answer ?

One ?

PM me now regarding personals bets on predicted answers please.

How to hijack a site.

Such a shame ....

As i said before there are a couple of posters on thai visa who are always trying to derail the topics they could be connected to a couple of diving businesess .

There is a certain C.K.K person who has been protecting the owner on In touch resort.

These posters a disgrace and it very much looks like their intentions are to critisize every poster so that the can protect certain figures and interests on the Island .

I hope the good police see right through and investigate them for obstructing this investigation where to young lives were tragically lost.

I have said this a million times already.

If it takes you to say it I hope it sinks in mate.

PLEASE can we ignore the posts and stick to topic.

Although I have won a wager here I can't tell you how bored I actually am.

You're bored?!

How do you think I feel?

Stop complaining, you took the job ROFLMAO!!!!

Does 'notification' include an 'invitation' to trample all over the crime scene with friends, relatives and hangers on to corrupt and destroy any evidence that may be linked to people he likes/is related to/has paid him to do so??

Just wondering how far notification travels for the RTP apologists.

Apparently not, as evidence was recovered including semen (but I am sure some tin foil hatters will claim that was planted too..

Any forensic evidence NOT collected under a specialist in forensics is suspect, by definition.

The failure to invite a specialist was incompetent at best and an attempt to pervert the course of justice at worst.

As one of the original people of interest was present it is not surprising that thousands of people doubt the integrity of any evidence and

dismiss the RTP ramblings of those with a vested interest in Rape Island.

Are you in competition with the guy you want stitched up? Is that your vested interest??

It is patently obvious that when the SAD MAN is challenged on one of his googled statements he throws a hissy and resorts to ridiculous insults.

Never can he be accused of using his powers of deduction, ( if any), to answer, thats what googy is for.

The recently released photo of the person of interest stomping around INSIDE the cordoned off crime scene area speaks volumes about his

relationship with the local investigators.

Like everyone on this forum I DO NOT know who the culprits are but, I am able to form conclusions on the basis of information, including circumstantial evidence,

and frankly, things are not looking good for the RTP apologists and the 'friends' of 'friends' on KT.

But thats just my informed, ( some of it dubious, admittedly) assessment plus a smattering of opinion.

I await to be convinced one way or the other but, the SAD MAN and his boy racer friend will not factor in that.

Does Thailand have police police. U know the police who check on their own police.

I believe the department is called internal affairs in the US. Who would do the investigating if a police officer was involved in a murder. Surely not one of the boys from the same station...

That leads me to my next question. Honestly who cleared Mon.... I mean he seems very, very tight with the local constabulary. Could they be trusted to do an unbiased investigation into him or the family for that matter.

Frankly, no they cannot be trusted to bite the hand that feeds them.

Who reported the crime? How soon before cops arrived? Did headman's people get there sooner? It would not be any stretch to imagine one of more of the headman's people getting to the crime scene prior to (their friends) the cops. How easy would it be to contaminate the crime scene? As easy as using a foot to cover things with sand, or pick something up and put it in a pocket, or chuck in to the sea. The messy hoe would have been harder to dispose of.

There are people on Ko Tao who know things about the murders and murderers/rapists, but aren't telling. Shame on them! They should justly feel like re-fried crap when the murderers/rapists strike again and again.

a functional 'Dept. of Internal Affairs' type of scenario in Thailand is simply not possible. It was tepidly tried with politicians and failed. It would be more difficult with police or military. Thais hate to discipline their brethren. Worst that can happen is assignment to 'inactive post' with full pay and benefits. Even a convicted person (if VIP) has no travel restrictions. If in doubt, here's one: Thaksin.

LOL

People who know....

Pure speculation and actually very unlikely. If there were a conspiracy the "people who know" would be in danger forever.

Keep imagining things and asserting it isn't a stretch.

You're actually right, but not in the way you coyly think you are. 'People who know' what really happened at the crime scene (and there are at least several) ARE IN DANGER. Even a 5 year old knows: if you speak out against the powers-that-be, you're toast.

However, some of the greatest people in history are those who had the moral courage and dared to speak the truth, even in the face of dire threats and danger. I, for one, hope at least one Ko Tao person (with knowledge of the crime) has the moral fortitude to speak out. At the least, they could post anonymously (which may be what some are doing), though anonymous internet posts are not as powerful as speaking out personally.

You can bet any knowledgeable person(s) who want(s) to speak out with proof that any of the headman's family is involved will have to go through the following hoops, with constant harassment by authorities and defenders of the guilty:

>>> first, they'll be threatened with harm to shut up.

>>> if they persist, they'll be offered money to shut up.

>>> if they persist, they'll be forced to reveal themselves (no pseudonyms or 'Friends of the Court' allowed). This will open them up to increased danger from (surprise!) the perpetrators and their supporters.

>>> They would be required to testify in court (sworn affadavit not enough) and probably repeat their testimony often.

>>> Even after all those hassles, they and their family members would continue to be targets for retribution.

>>> I doubt there is any 'silent witness' program in Thailand as in the US.

On the other hand, if anyone wants to provide 'proof' the Burmese were involved, Cops will give them the red-carpet treatment.

In related matter: Early on in the (sham) 'investigation' there were one or two locals who were pressured to give false testimony by the cops - re; this case. We don't hear any more from or about them.

There is witpro here but it sucks. Your assessment of open court etc is wrong. Completely up to the judges.

Anyone testifying could petition the UK for protection.

You jump from one conspiracy to even larger more convoluted ones very quickly.
