Jingthing
Should a man that drunk be riding on a moto taxi? The top picture of him lying on the street looks like it could be used for a new Prohibition movement poster! Popular Post hawker9000
Well, if you really have to tie one on to THAT degree, in public, I guess just having a quiet seat on the curb is probably the best course of action... 'Not going to fit anyone's definition of a "quality tourist", but when I think of the antics & predicaments other inebriates seem to get themselves into, this guy's relatively low on the nuisance scale (tho' I suppose the F-Mart mgr might've preferred he stumbled in & out of somebody else's store). Credit where credit is due; good job of the store employees & police working together to get the guy off the street without incident and safely back to his hotel room. I reckon the moto-taxi driver has chauffeured worse...

yellowboat
Not going to fit anyone's definition of a "quality tourist",. If he is staying in a 4 or 5 star hotel, than he fits TAT's wanted demographic. At least he was not doing anything detrimental like visiting factories, trying to buy car parts or attending a trade show, then he would be breaking the law if on a tourist visa. I too have met many decent policemen and convenience store clerks.
Jingthing
Cultural comment. Notice to happy funny tone of the news article. Because it's booze. Now imagine what the story would have been like if he was out cold on the street with a needle in his arm ... Not meant to be flippant. Alcohol kills. Popular Post Jingthing
No law broken, but it's news because it's an American. I think it wouldn't have made the news if he was Thai or neighboring Asean person. But any white foreigner ... yes, it is seen as amusing by the "press" here.

laobali
No law broken, but it's news because it's an American. It's only news because there's invariably a Thai press photographer on the scene within seconds of an incident where police presence is required. Wonder how that happens?

Jungle Jim
Thailand likely has the highest percentage of foreign alcoholics in the world. Another quality tourist. If Thailand banned alcohol the tourist numbers would drop by the millions and likely millions of less problems.
Jungle Jim
The bottle seems to be the cure for most foreigners here. Go ahead drink yourself silly.
