bra
Lets wait for a proper investigation before jumping to any conclusions. Runway excursions (either to the side or past the end) are not all that uncommon.

maddermax
Could have been hydroplaning of the wheels just before takeoff. Those accident stats are really impressive. Somebody has put in a lot of work there. Just wondering if the DCA publishes reports on these accidents?
kamahele
I normally see this type of issue upon landing in wet weather, but prior to take off? Oops! The Captain has some explaining to do.
garrya
The runway must have been built by Burmese. Also, a Burmese ghost suddenly showed up and intimidated the pilot.
gerry123
Aquaplaning or hydroplaning which is also known as a loss of steering or braking control when a layer of water prevents direct contact between tires and the road, runway, or other surface. sorry mate no rain or standing at K K airport yesterday
Wiggy
By the registration shown (HS-TEG) it's the same type of aircraft that went off at Suvarnabhumi with the infamous logo-painting debacle (Airbus A330). In fact, this one is the registration immediately following, as the previous one was HS-TEF. Probably coincidence though as these things are not uncommon. This one just does not add up, according to what is written in the OP - quite normal with Thai reporting unfortunately. According to the OP, the flight was outbound when the excursion occurred, which is relatively rare - most excursions occur during/shortly after landing. Why did the incident cause closure of the ,main runway for Nok Air ? - unknown. So some passengers will stay at a hotel until the aircraft is extracted and repaired? Repairs, inspection and recertification would normally take at least several days, and I am quite sure that Khon Kaen does not have either the facilities or personnel to do the job. I think it would be better if they had simply ignored the story.

shaurene
Hard to work this out, skidded off while taking off, flown out KK many times, long runway, wide and I believe no rain or winds. Must have been mechanical problem.

Popular Post 3SoiDogNight
I've flown in & out of Khon Kaen several times. The aircraft must do a complete turn at the end of the runway before & after takeoff. My guess is the pilots made the turn too wide an drove in to the grass.
