Hi all,

I am just about about to send off my visitor application form for my T/G and have just thought. If i say in my sponsership letter that my Gf intends to visit for 4 weeks will they still issue a visit visa for the 6Months I have ticked on the application form.

Many thanks in advance

Yes they almost certainly will, BUT do not think that she can then stay 6 months without future repercussions. If you said 4 weeks then 4 weeks (or 5 ) it is , but not excessivally over that. She is supposed to be going for a visit remember . If she stays the full 6 months whilst she confusingly will not have overstayed or acted illegally , they (ECO's ) will see that as some kind of deception (which after all it would be ) and would make a future application of any kind of visa , not just another vv, subject to much closer scrutiny.

Stick to what you have told them and you will build a lot of credability for your next application.

As said, visit visas are usually for 6 months and multi entry. However, if the ECO has some doubts, but not enough to refuse, then the visa may be restricted to a single entry and she may be asked to sign an "Undertaking to Return" after 4 weeks (or whatever period she says she is going for). This undertaking is not legally enforceable, but breaking it without good reason will show that she is possibly untrustworthy and could be held against her in future applications. Abiding by it will boost her credibility immensely.

Even if she does not sign an undertaking, it will be on record that she said she only wanted to visit for 4 weeks. Staying longer may mean she is asked some awkward questions when she next applies.

As Atlastaname says, sticking to the time period originally stated will stand her in good stead when she next applies.
