Hello

I told my bank in the past that i am living in thailand now and not in europe anymore

my bank in Europe wrote to me before 6 month that they need a certificate of residence from me cause of the withholding tax. I brought this to them and all was fine. Now 2 days ago that they need another certificate of residence from me which call Certificate of Residence Form (In case of an individual taxpayer). But i am not a taxpayer in thailand. I just have student visa. They said if i dont bring that they wanna cancel my account. I am now worried if i really get this otherwise i have to look for a new bank account. Well dont know really what to do. Has anyone an idea.

Supporting documents required (in case of an individual taxpayer) :

A copy of the filed income tax returns e.g. P.N.D. 90, P.N.D. 91.

2.

3.

A copy of taxpayer's tax identification card.

4.

A copy of taxpayer's passport (in order to total number of days the taxpayer resides in Thailand. In order to issue the certificate, the taxpayer must resides in Thailand more than 180 days).

5.

Other relevant documents, if any.

6.

It's for this and other reasons I use an address in my home country and, if they ask where I live, I tell them I live in my home country and travel a lot.

The underlying reason for you problem is that all governments want their tax money. If they don't get it from you they want to insure that you are paying it somewhere else

In the world wide economy that we now live in, everyone wants their cut either directly or via a tax treaty and they are using the banks to enforce the laws

There is a lot more to this story than what we are being told, mainly the source of the money that is going into this European bank account
