Done it many times on Kawasaki 250's to Ducati 900SS.

The 250 Kawasaki is the most fun, but like many people have said, be very careful of potholes and bus drivers.

I also found that there several wet spots where water crosses the road or oil spots on critical downhill braking sections...can make your sphincter pucker for a second when you lose grip momentarily.

...also be careful using the front brake on sandy corners or uneven downhill sections...sure way to go down.

Take it easy, be wary, stop regularly for food and drink and pictures and its a great few days. Wear decent protection if you can.

Decent protection? What you mean Trojan versus Playboy....... just joking!

As its a bit cooler in the higher areas, its a bit more comfortable to kit up so no real excuse not to. Does that make sense? Id advise to put away the flip flops/jandals/thongs and wear some good footwear, as toes tend to get a bit mangled if you do come a cropper. A good helmet and gloves are also advisable. And if you have the funds, you could even splash out on kevlar lined jeans and a good jacket.

The sky is the limit as they say..... one bit of kit I always carry is a good raincoat and over trousers. Taichi is a very good brand and roll up into a small bag. They are a bit dearer than the throw away thin trash bag stuff locals use, but IMHO worth every cent.

Have a great trip and stay safe

I cannot believe this thread is still going. The OP came back to this thread the day he started it (or maybe the next day) cussing and screaming at the moderators. Post after post filled with foul language. His posts have been removed but he has never been back posting to this thread.

Wow..i was gonna mention shoes, jeans, and jacket..

Aloha

Sorry to hijack this thread but I am also doing this ride in December and need to rent bikes, but cant find anywhere on line that would be 'ideal'.

I did the exact same ride 12 months ago on my 47 year old Lambretta, had no problems and loved it. There was around 25 of us, all on Lambrettas and no one came off or had any issues. On the windy bits I was shifting mostly between 1st and 2nd but you do get brief chances to open up just a little.

I am hoping to rent 2 enduro type bikes from CM so if anyone knows of any shops/people that rent out with insurance I would appreciate it, cheers.
