Hey all,

I'm hoping to head off to India in a month or so but 1st attempt at the Indian Visa office in Sukkumvit, I found a lot of hoops need to be jumped through..

I should mention I'm not permanent in Thailand and have been coming in and out whilst visitng surrounding countries (back again! been doing this on and off for 15 years)

Posting this to help anyone else but also looking for advice, warnings of anything else I may need to get Visa..

SO, as far as i can tell, required are...

1. Application form https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/visa/indianVisaReg.jsp Fill in online here.

2. Photos 2'x2' x2

3 Photocopy of Passport x 2

4. Photocopy of Thai Visa stamp x 1

5. Non-Thai form (Not sure whey mean by this apart from a Roman script application?)

6. Reservation IN and out of India

7. Hotel reservations in India for duration of stay (!?)

8. Original passport must have 6 months valid and 2 pages for the India Visa.

I know they also want finger prints as well now..

I think that's about it but would really appreciate any guidance on this.Much as I love Bangkok, I want to get out to see a few more places in my last month here (for now).

I am an American and I have been dismayed every time I think of starting to get my India Visa. the worst part is, you pay but you don't know if you will get the 5 year or the 10 year visa. I hate open ended things like that. The anti-scammer part of my brain says of course they will only give the 5 year visa. When I attempted to get some answers via email on those location and contact information questions I got nothing solid back. heck, I don't know where I might stay. I don't know what year I would even go.
