Krokmatai Waterfall (Huay Yai Municipality)

I just learned about a waterfall located in Huay Yai Municipality called Krokmatai Waterfall. It's named that because the local who discovered it last year, said my dog has died from falling from waterfall named above. It's believed to be the only waterfall in the Pattaya area. There's a dirt road you can get to the waterfall, see this map.

Here's a link to a video and channel 7 report about it. Unfortunately it's in Thai only.

It is quite hard to get to it, the waterfall is located below the level of the surrounding area in a very pretty little valley. The roads shown on the map are not actually roads but single track dirt tracks. If you want to go there best park up just off the road and walk down.

Be warned Its along way in and not easy to find. You can also get lost in there.

I think that road is right opposite some big industrial outfit. Always a bunch of dirt on the main road there.

Right now, that dirt road might be in better shape than Huay Yai road! It's an absolute mess right now.

Its not near any industrial stuff, or anywhere near houses. The access to it is nearly over by the 331. look for a concrete spirit house on the right hand side about 1 mile before the 331, park up there and walk.

Not sure about it being discovered recently though, any hash runner will know exactly where it is.

It's not an industrial plant, but a place where trucks come in and out. Maybe an agricultural facility??? Dirt is across the road. I know where that other road is also, up on the hill. But from that map, seems you can get in before the road starts to go up the hill. There is a dirt track off to the left there...can't miss it...Huay Yai road is covered with dirt right there! 55555

For those that don't know, there is also an excellent viewpoint in Huay Yai from which you can see all of Jomtien and Pattaya.

The road from Chak Ngeo (Chark Nell) out towards the 331, on the way up the hill past the incinerator plant about 100m, small dirt road off to your left, don't try and take your vehicle up just park there and walk, some view, shows just how big Pattaya and Jomtien have become.

I have driven this road a couple of times when driving to Jomtien/Pattaya from upcountry (psst: not too many people should get to know tongue.png ). From the street you only have a view over the Jomtien "skyline".

I guess the viewpoint is somewhere here on top of the hill?

Not quite sure which is the dirt road though.

The street view is outdated compared with the satellite view.

Street view does not show the big hall/plant as seen on satellite view.

There are some really nice views from the various roads off 331 heading down towards Suk. We take these quite often on our way back from Bangkok or Chonburi. Really beautiful on a clear day!

It's about 100m after the incinerator plant, so about 100m before the crest of the hill. A little mountain on the left, small dirt road which can sometimes be quite covered with growth, walk up about 5 minutes and there is an observation hut/pavilion type thing.

When you are driving up towards the incinerator, look up to your left and you will see the viewpoint pavilion.

I've always found this area very attractive - along the 331 south of the 36 - but I've felt intimidated from exploring off the tarmac roads.

I would be concerned about Dogs and locals who might feel that I was up to no good.

When friends ask me what I miss about the UK - my reply is normally "Public Footpaths". Some of you guys seem to explore far more than I - am I being to cautious?

Print this map and bring it. The blue route is the easiest way in, this way you can drive a scooter all the way up to the waterfall.

If you come from 331, turn right on Huay Yai Road. Drive for 3.8 km and turn right onto a dirt road.

If you come from Sukhumvit, turn left on Huay Yai Road. Drive 2.4 km past 2081 and turn left onto a dirt road.

Follow the dirt road for 2.2 km where it T-bones a track and turn right onto the track.

Follow the track for 650 meters and turn right onto another track.

Follow the track for 440 meters and turn right onto another track. There at least was a yellow arrow pointing towards the waterfall here.

Follow the track for 400 meters and the waterfall is at the end of it.
