Doi Inthanon, camping

Featured Replies

Wife and I will be driving up to Chiang Mai from Bangkok on Sunday and plan to spend a couple of nights camping at Doi Inthanon before driving farther north. Is the best route to go north on Route 1 to Thoen then take route 106 or just continue on Route 1 to Route 11 then get on route 108 south to 1009 which leads into the park? On the map it looks like taking route 106 would be best but I was told the road was quite curvy and not in good repair. Also, for anyone that has been to Inthanon the past couple of days, how was the weather? Cold?

The staff at the park issued a warning, saying that the car park was full of visitors there to enjoy to cool weather. Presumably weekends, but not sure.

They did state that as soon as the car park was full, the gates would be closed. They couldn't handle the large numbers.

Thanks for the info. Probably applies more over the weekends as that's when the NP tend to fill up. We plan to arrive there on Tuesday.

Don't know what 106 is like. You could turn off 11 at Lamphun & follow 116 across to 108.
