Zetia

Featured Replies

Recently started taking the cholesterol lowering drug Zetia (ezetimibe) with fantastic results. Can anyone tell me where they get theirs? Preferably Lat Prao area or the lower Sukumvit. Have tried my usually reliable pharmacies: Southeast Asia Pharmacy at Suk/soi 15 and the pharmacy next to Chula across from MBK. The latter at least confirmed that the drug is available in Thailand but could not suggest where to look. Any help greatly appreciated.

never heard of it. we use simvastatin bought in booths or any chemist on the road.

Just out of interest how do you know it has 'fantastic results' as opposed to the normally expected results.

I take Crestor and it does the job for me with no side effects. I think that when I first started I was retested after a few months and it had successfully lowered my cholesterol

I tried going off it for 6 months but when I retested levels had gone up again.

Crestor costs me 1750 baht for 28 x 20mg pills. I split the pills to take 10mg a day.

To satisfy your curiosity. Over the past year my LDL had slowly crept up to 120. My cardiologist knows of my concerns about the 10mg of Crestor I have taken for a long time. He suggested I try Zetia and gave me a free 14 day sapmle. I had another blood draw exactly after 14 days. My LDL had dropped to 65, almost a 50% change, with a similar reduction in Triglycerides.

So, yes, I call that fantastic results. As you hopefully know, your LDL and HDL/LDL ration are the really significant numbers in predicting cardiac health. Don't get too hung up on total cholesterol.

Quite expensive. Left US with a 6 week supply, assuming I could get the drug here. Guess not.
