Vision Center

Rajvitthi Rd. (near to the UN Irish Pub)

(not strictly in the medical arena but very highly rated for all aspects of eye exams and sensible costs of glasses and lenses)

They are closed on Mondays. Also the front of the store looks to classy to be taken for an optical center. I believe they are only about 100 feet East of the UN Pub. That is towards the moat ohn the same side of the road.

Parking in the back.

Looks more like a jewelery shop inside than an optical shop. Bound to be "peng mak mak", but I've heard good things about the place, from rich farangs.

Well here is one non rich Farong saying good things about it.

He has saved me money. Once when he told me it was cheaper to get the wife two pair of glasses than the fancy ones that do every thing and another time when I was concerned about my vision while out side not having the range it used to have. He said at that time a pair of glasses would be a waste.

Now you can say you have heard good things from Farongs in your monetary class. I qualify with some extra for the retirement Visa. You don't have to be rich to do that.

Well I'm far from rich Frank but I wouldn't go anywhere else. Most thorough eye exam I've ever had in any country. I wanted to utilise my existing frames,no problem. They were scanned and a few days later the new progressive lenses were put in...perfect vision and well under 9,000 baht.

How does an optical shop full of glass counter cabinets, containing a multitude of frames, look like a jewellery shop ?

I have know the optician for over 30 years not only is he professional he is really reasonable if not cheaper than others, if you want designer frames you will pay for them. He speaks fluent English has up to date equipment and has contact lenses. There is parking in the back and he is also very personable.

Not at all expensive. Cheaper than other places I went to before. Really nice guy; expert in his field.

First time I went there he asked me twice to get my old glasses out of the car to see if the frames still could be used! I told him I was too ashamed as they were junk, 5 years old and I wanted to buy new frames.

The g/f insisted she needed glasses. He tested her (twice) and told her she did not need glasses and not to waste the money. Amazing.
