Anybody know or use a decent Optician. Bangkok /Pattaya

Featured Replies

I've broken a pair of glasses , nose bridge bit thing , coming away from the lens. I've been to see several "Opticians" in Ayutthaya that only seem to employ 16 year old birds caked in make-up trying to sell you new Glasses at "Ha sip percent" discount.. I know they are fixable as I've had them repaired in Malaysia before. I also require a new pair but not from one of these optical boutiques.

Any replies , including the smart arsed ones, appreciated

Just give this a bump for when the Four eyed Posse get out of bed

I always go to Paris Miki located in Central World Zen department store for my glasses. Best glasses I have ever had and they fix and clean for free each time I take them back. Not sure if they can fix yours but they are a Japanese company and they appear to be very competent.

Siam Optical Sukhumvit Soi 29 by the police boothclap2.gifclap2.gifclap2.gifclap2.gif .

Cheers Gent , I'll be in Bangkok probably next weekend, I'll take a look in. I'm temped to wait until I go back to Penang in January but wearing 2 bob reading glasses in the meantime is not the best

Believe you mean zenni.com (unless you own and are trying to sell that web site posted). But you need a prescription to use mail order service. If he does have that would highly recommend zenni

Thanks , actually I was thinking of calling my optician in Malaysia and asking him to send my prescription

Yes. The shop next to the Novotel ploenchit. On sukhumvit. Almost next door. They do good.work. And they are fair on pricing.

The one I used in Malaysia are called Optical 88 . I just googled Optical 88 Thailand and there is a branch 20 minutes down the road in Ayutthaya park, touch.

Does anyone know a real good optician that can actually use all that high tech stuff? My last experiences left me with glasses that didn't really improve my sight, but rather caused headaches and all. A real doctor would be preferred.

Thats what I am worried about. I went to one in Taiwan once and all he had was some machine you looked into

Further up the thread a Bangkok hospital is mentioned for tests

Even if we wanted to, it's not possible. Also admin cannot, I was admin before and not able to read PMs of others. Not sure about the NSA, though...

Thanks for the hint, sounds like one of the more expensive places..

Have a google for Optical 88, see if there is one in your area, imo they are better than the Thai franchises

Domenic Optical, 3rd fl, Central Bangna. Older fella runs the place. Is very competent with frame repair, new prescriptions, etc. Been using the shop for years.

Go to to a place on soi17 intersection with 2nd road Pattaya, been mentioned before on Pattaya forum, name I think is First optical, have bought 7 pairs for me and family from here and even new with prescription lenses or sunglasses did not cost more than 1800 Baht for the same thing for sale in Central for 5200 Baht

Thanks I'm in Pattaya over Christmas and new year so I'll pop in.

The Optical 88 in Ayhuttaya was worse than useless, the bird in there kept going "No ,No" , just as well I kept my trousers on
