Wearing yellow shirts to celebrate His Majesty the King’s 87th Birthday Anniversary

BANGKOK: -- The Organizing Committee for the Celebrations of His Majesty the King’s 87th Birthday Anniversary- December 5, 2014 has asked every government department to have an event celebrating this auspicious occasion nationwide. As in Bangkok, there’s the “Love Father” celebration at Sanam Luang and Ratchadamnoen Avenue starting November 30 - December 6, 2014.

The “Love Father” event includes the exhibition about His Majesty the King’s work and talent, honor in many fields and royally-initiated projects which are based on Philosophy of Sufficiency Economy. Besides the “Love Father” celebrations, the Organizing Committee campaigns for wearing yellow shirts throughout December.

Government departments also has internal circular letter cooperating every section to have the government officers, administrators and employees wear the yellow shirt which represents the color of His Majesty's birthday in order to show respect and loyalty and to be grateful to the King.

Office of the Permanent Secretary, The Prime Minister's Office has launched the yellow polo shirts for those who are interested to buy for wearing or for souvenir at 250 Baht each. The shirt is yellow with the design of heart symbol with number 9 in it on the left pocket.

A new permanent checkpoint opened in Phang-Nga Province

PHANG-NGA, 1 Dec 2014, (NNT) - The Provincial Administration of Phang-nga has opened its new permanent checkpoint in the Takuapah District, aiming to provide additional security while preventing drug dealer smuggling narcotics into the country.


The Phang-nganew Governor presided over the checkpoint opening ceremony, of which activities included training local security officials how to properly use their weapons, setting up checkpoint, and conducting searches for illegal items, as well as making arrests.

The route linking Takuapha and Kuraburi Districts is an area frequently used by drug smugglers and human trafficking rings. Local authorities are currently deploying volunteers to patroll the areas round the clock.

The campaign is part of the government’s efforts to eradicate human trafficking, a national threat, said the Governor. The Office is determined to achieve that goal through the activity.

Marine Department steps up measures to prevent invasion of public waters

AYUTTHAYA, 1 Dec 2014, (NNT) - The Marine Department has stepped up its measures to prevent encroachment on public waters after officials discovered several cases of the offense in the Chaophraya and the Pahsak Chonlasit Rivers.


Director of the Marine Department Region 2 office, Wilawan Siringampen, disclosed that her agency had adopted several measures to prevent the encroachment on public waters at the two rivers. The measures included having officials patrol the areas frequently, giving suggestions and warnings to the locals on the issue.

Aside from those measures, the department had also been improving the area’s maritime transportation quality by preventing further erosion, dredging canals, marking the route for ships, and installing CCTV cameras to monitor the areas.

According to Ms. Wilawan, there are presently about 10 cases of public waters encroachment pending in court.

Prayut to introduce Aksara to Malaysia as Thailand's chief peace negotiator

BANGKOK: -- Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha will inform his Malaysian counterpart during his one-day visit that Gen Aksara Kerdpol, the chief advisor for the Supreme Command, will be Thailand's chief negotiator for holding peace dialogues with southern insurgents.


Prayut, Aksara and several other military officers left for an official visit to Malaysia at 7 am.

Anusit Kunakorn, secretary general of the National Security Council, said Prayut will inform of the selection of Aksara as the person in charge of holding peace dialogue so that the Malaysian government would in turn inform insurgent groups.

City Hall ordered by court to suspend construction of a condominium in Soi Sailom

One lane of inbound Charoenkrung road to be closed to traffic

BANGKOK: -- The Traffic Police Division announced that one lane of the inbound Charoenkrung Road will be closed to traffic on around-the-clock basis from Monday to July 31 next year to facilitate the construction of the extended subway.


The lane will be closed from Unakan Intersection to Samyod Intersection.

Thai armed forces rehearse parade honouring King’s birthday

BANGKOK, Dec 1 -- Thailand's Chief of Defence Forces Gen Worapong Sanganetra yesterday led representatives of the three armed forces in a major rehearsal for a parade to celebrate His Majesty the King’s 87th birthday which falls on Friday, December 5.

The actual parade will be held tomorrow with the public allowed to witness the ceremony in which royal guards from 12 battalions and a cavalry battalion will join in an oath of allegiance ceremony.

Several roads including Charoen Krung, Maharaj and Phra Arthit roads leading to the site of the ceremony will be closed from 4am to 4pm.

Traffic between Sanam Chai Road and Rajdamnoen Nai Avenue will be closed from 8am to 4pm tomorrow. (MCOT online news)
