PM Prayut pledges to be more polite in answering reporters’ questions

BANGKOK: -- Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha pledged that he would speak more politely, friendly and to cool himself down in reacting to reporters’ questions.

This attitude change, he said, was to offer as a tribute to His Majesty the King on his birthday anniversary on December 5.

Gen Prayut said he would rebehave and stop his hot tempered manner in reacting to reporters’ queries during the press conference.

“I will speak more politely and stop my behaviour of being a hot-tempered person,”he said.

But in turn, he said he would like to ask the media to not pose provocative questions or questions that could agitate others.

As for the upcoming New Year, he said the government has been preparing numerous events, including low price goods sales, and the exemption on toll fees for commuters during the long holidays to give as New Year gifts to the people.l

The prime minister also said he would like to encourage all Thais to do good deeds in honor of His Majesty the King by loving each other, uniting, and thinking of the nation as first priority.

He urged that the people followed His Majesty’s initiated principle of Sufficiency Economy, lending a hand to help build better futures of the younger generations, as well as brought about benefit for the whole society.

Before all future press conferences the general can just distribute a list of the questions to be asked and which he will answer politely. Those who ask other questions will receive answers in his normal unattitude adjusted manner.

The "PM's" of North Korea and Thailand are having a competition as to who can be the most popular. The General Should take up golf and beat the former NK leaders record of about 10 holes in one in his first game of golf. After all, he purchased plenty of golf ball finders, sorry I mean bomb detectors.

The PMs spokesperson should make it easy for the media by telling them if they ask simple, polite even fawning questions they will receive a nice, polite answer.

Ask questions which are direct, difficult, pointed, critical or are in any way deemed inappropriate and he will open fire.

Forget your ideas of being a journalist and asking necessary, relevant questions in order you can report accurately as it's the PM's ball so he makes and enforces the rules.

Mr. PM, you could do as the politicians in the US do. If you don't like the question, relax, take a breath, and just give the answer to question that no one asked. Expand on your non-responsive answer until all the time for the press conference is gone. They will get the idea and you don't have to come off as angry or controlling.

It's not only in the US...it's standard for all western democracies. Problem is he is Army.....used to just telling it truthfully as it is and as it is going to be. Doubt whether in the short time he has set as his own elected leader term he can learn the politicians switch it or bull sh!t it methods.

Good point, he is military through and through and it's very unlikely he will ever be on the same wavelength as the general public. Rather there is a need to try and encourage the people to become like the military, take orders and don't question.

What the good P.M. needs to understand that he is no longer a General ,he is also in the public domain so he has no privacy (To speak of), he should be also happy that the press freedom that is in Thailand on behalf of himself and his elite cronies is only a small proportion of personal questions the western press would hammer at him , so he should thank his lucky stars that he leads a country without press freedom, isn't that so NKK.

I rather like his bluntness, so it's not more politeness that is needed, because often the media can ask some really stupid questions.

More to the point, it is his stances on things like throttling the media or non-violent protests with 3-fingers, in essence he must start bringing in Democracy and all it means with free speech, freedom of expression and freedom of the media.
