MyPenRye Posted August 7, 2006 Posted August 7, 2006 Comparing the document that I got from a broker from Thailand to a booklet that I got here in Canada (with half of it being about exclusions ), it certainly look as if something is missing. I was wondering if I could get some advice from some of you who will certainly be more knowledgeable or experienced that I am at this. (The document is at the end of this post. I am sorry for the poor quality, but this is the best I could do with what I was given.) I'm going to stay in the North of LOS for 4 months (apart from a few days in BKK). I will probably be using buses, Tuk-Tuks, and ride (occasionally) a motorcycle and a bicycle (often). The only sport I will probably do is play tennis, ping pong, volleyball, and hike (and ride a bicycle). BTW, I almost never drink and never drink heavily, don't do drugs,... and I am in really good health. I think I should ask to see the document I am going to be responsible for (to sign). Maybe on it, will be a number of ... exclusions and details. Am I right? There were a few additional details given on another sheet. Here there are. 1000 bath deductible on: > medical expenses, > baggage loss, damage, or delay, > loss of cash and trav. cheques Premiums (in baths) > diamond plan (single/month): 1,700 > gold plan (single/month): 1,300 > silver plan (single/month): 700 NOTE: > Premium includes tax and stamp duty > 6 months max. > 2 times for optional sports coverage > medical emergency. benefits to cover non-professional sports (BTW: Any idea on what to do for a theft/rental policy?)
MyPenRye Posted August 7, 2006 Author Posted August 7, 2006 Addendum: The $2500 hospital allowance/day looks suspect. No? BTW, this was provided to me from e-insure Thailand (as advertised and recommended on ajarn.com). Thank you all for your help in this regard.
Maestro Posted August 8, 2006 Posted August 8, 2006 The $2500 hospital allowance/day looks suspect. No?Perhaps they mean 2,500 Baht, since all other amounts in that document are in Baht.--------------- Maestro The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place. — George Bernard Shaw

BTW, this policy did not cover for any computer theft or loss and only $500 for camera (incl. lenses). Useless for me.
