Can't sign in to Amazon.

Featured Replies

I have bought a lot of things through Amazon over the last two or three years, I have never changed my password or e-mail address. I get a notice 'There was an error with your e-mail/password combination'.

Then I get 'Type the characters that you see in this image'. I then do that and the box becomes blank, it then says 'Try a different image' this just goes on and on, and I can get no further.

Anyone know how I can get in touch with Amazon? I have looked through their website, and cannot find an e-mail address. Anyone help.

When I click 'contact us' button I get asked to sign in, there is nothing that can be done till you sign in, and they won't let me sign in. I just can't win, and I want to buy something from them. Is it only me who has this problem?

I have just had this with the Google Search engine , said I had to sign in to a google acc. and type in characters shown in image.

I just went onto yahoo........2 days later back on Google no problem.

I have just signed onto Amazon.com no problems.

I have another e-mail address, so I re registered again using that.

Meanwhile if someone has got hold of your original account and changed the destination email address.....

If you're having trouble signing in, here are some things to check:

Clear Your Browser's Cache and Cookies

Your Internet browser's "Help" menu will have instructions for how to clear the cache and cookies.

CAPS Lock and NUM Lock on Your Keyboard

Passwords are case sensitive, so "PASSWORD" and "Password" are recognized as two different passwords.

Incorrect E-mail Address

Your e-mail address must be in this format: [email protected] (or .net, .org, .edu, etc.). If you have more than one e-mail address, be sure that you're using the correct e-mail address and password combination for the account you are trying to access. Also, if your computer is set to auto-complete the e-mail, make sure it's the correct e-mail address listed.

Incorrect Password

If you're sure you're using the correct e-mail address, try to reset your password. For more information, go to Reset Your Password.

You could try Amazon at different country sites USA, UK, Australia ... and see if the same problem exists.

Sometimes someone will register eg on amazon.co.uk and then later on try to log on to amazon.com

The OP's original issue and the 'Type the characters that you see in this image' prompting sounds like he was being asked to revalidate his login credentials. Usually issues with blank boxes and 'try a different image' indicates a problem with the speed of the internet connection. Any problems noted with any other online services, email, etc.?

Regarding 're registered again' with a new email, that will appear to amazon as a new account. However, are you able to login with the new email/password combo or still 'locked out' of the new account?

Did you complete the instructions in post #6 (good link Suradit69) and reset the password?

I have a .uk and .com amazon accounts that share the same login information and it's never been a problem. I can open both homepages on different pages in the same browser at the same time. But as pointed out, if the OP is registered only on .co.uk and is trying to log in at .com AND HE HASN'T REGISTERED WITH THE LATTER, he will get rejected. I just did my Christmas shopping last Friday on both sides of the pond.

Where is the amazon original account that the OP is having issues with located, ie., .com, .co.uk, .au ?

No, that is not the problem, it is the same with Amazon US, I used a different e-mail address and open up a new account, and got my item sent to an address that I used before, it could be to do with the internet connection. Thanks anyway.
