I am moving to Pattaya. On March 25, my flight from LAX will arrive Bangkok at about 11:30 pm. I am planning to spend three days in Bangkok and then travel to Pattaya.

I would appreciate two recommendations. First, I would like to use one of the VIP services at the airport in Bangkok. Can anyone who has used these services recommend one.?

Next, I would like to get recommendations for a Bangkok hotel that is in the $50 per night range and also centrally located.

Thanks guys

Express Immigration and Limo

You'll get a decent hotel for 50USD but not VIP, have a look at the Shereton in Sukhumvit, you may get a deal if you book early, Otherwise ,Sofitel, Continent , Raddison, Central Terminal 21 are all in your price range depending when you book. www.booking.com

Which one of those is the US£50 accommodation? Have you taken leave of your senses?

Thanks for the information. I did not mean to give the impression that the $50 should include both the VIP services and the hotel. The $50 range is only for the hotel.

We knew what you meant. I meant that you need to specify an area. Central means nothing. Central to where you want to be is another. Where do you want to be?

If lower Sukhumvit, you'll struggle. Have a scroll through this list if you are looking at Sukhumvit.

Jiu-Jitsu this will be my first time in Bangkok thus I am not sure where I want to stay. But, where I am located maybe not be very important. For the three days that I am in Bangkok, I will rest and explore some of the city. For example, I will probably arrange a couple tours, get a feel for where the American Embassy is located, get a couple massages, and sample as much food as possible.

Thank you for the list of hotels you sent. I randomly picked several of the hotels, put in my March date, and I found some good deals.

Thanks again

So if you want to be close to the American Embassy, you may wish to stay close to the Wireless Road. If you prefer to tour a little, then I suggest the Banglamphu district. River Taxi just a few minutes walk away and more opportunities to meet other holidaymakers.

A typical budget accommodation in the area; New Siam 2 US$30 for a double.

For ease of getting around, I would suggest somewhere on the BTS or MRT lines. Sukhumvit from Phrom Phong to Pleon Chit has many many hotels, pretty much in any class range including small botique hotels to 5 star.

It has been a long time since I stayed in an hotel in Bangkok, so I do not know the current pricing, but about $50 a night was what I used to pay 12-15 years ago.

Unless you are unlucky in arriving behind 3 or 4 other jumbo jets from the middle east or China, getting through immigration really does not take long and is quite painless. Not really sure if the expense of VIP treatment is worth the cost. Just hoof it through and grab a taxi, or if you really want to pay top dollar, an AOT limo.

Good advice. Take a taxi from the public taxi rank at the airport for 300 baht or less into town and use the money saved to UPGRADE the hotel. You'll be in the taxi for 30 mins or so but the hotel is 24 hours......

On the other hand coming off of a Long haul from LAX it might be worth a 1000bt to beat any queues and have a car waiting, check the limo price to Pattaya on the link , if you don't want the Limo tell them you want express immigration only. Ive done it a few times if I want to get away sharpish

They are going to Bangkok from the airport, not Pattaya. Do I need to be concerned about you?
