With the new multi-storey carpark now in use, the old one has been closed.

PHUKET: -- The old open parking lot in front of Phuket International Airport is now closed after the new multi-storey car park was opened for use.

The airport’s new Director, Monrudee Gettuphan, told The Phuket News today (December 8), “We closed the old car park on Saturday (December 6). Taxis or other vehicles can bring passengers to the departures lounge or pick them up from arrvals, but they cannot stop in the old car park.

“There are the signs drivers pointing the way to the new parking lot building, in Thai and English.

“We have two shuttle buses that will move people between the treminal and the car park. The buses will make pick-ups every 10 minutes, 24 hours a day.

“In case they are needed, we also have electric golf carts that can carry people to and fro.

“If people do not want to wait, they can walk between the terminal and the car park. We have built a temporary covered walkway; we will install a permanent one soon.

“Meanwhile the old car park will be converted into a second multi-storey car park. It should have been built earlier, but we have made a start; we have already awarded the contract for that.”

I used this new system on Friday last. The car park was closed then. Drove up to the 5th floor. 3rd floor is ladies only. Pink zone. Lift down to ground. Mini bus waiting. Takes you to Departure where they have a designated drop space.

On return on Sunday could find no evidence of Arrival area for car park mini bus. So I legged it. Not too bad. Only one case on wheels. Would be awful in the rain. It is partly covered. Anyway, nice toilets in the Multi-Storey. Clean but one bowl already blocked. Lift back to 5th. From up there some good views. Lots of new terminal building right in front. Drive down and pay THB600 for 3 days two nights away. Certainly an improvement.

Used the new one last month sometime. Nice and easy. The shuttle guy was even pretty pleasant.

Much better than pushing cars around to "free" your transport so you can go home.

was the long term parking safe good security???

any problems leaving car there for a week???

Price 200 thb a day correct??

thanks
