Facebook Photo Upload Problem

Featured Replies

Hi Guys

ToT recently upgraded my ADSL connection - was 7Mb / 512Kb and now is 13Mb / 1Mb.

Seems fine except that my wife now claims that she can no longer upload photos to Facebook from her Samsung DUOS smart phone. The start of the problem does seem to coincide with the date of the upgrade, although this could be coincidental.

As far as I am aware, nothing else has changed - my ASUS N55U router settings are unaltered although, as expected, the diagnostics reflect the increase in connection speed.

If it's relevant, her phone has a reserved IP address on the N55U, as do all the other 'permanent' devices on my LAN. She seems to be able to access the internet with no problems - only Facebook is affected.

Any ideas?

Try to set the MTU parameter in your router to 1400 and see if this solves the problem. You probably will find it on the WAN settings page, along with PPPoE username/password.

I have a feeling FB is heavily monitored, mine is alway slow to load, could be the reason, just mentioning

Good suggestion.

What I normally do to resolve MTU issues is to do a PING fragmentation test so maybe I'll give that a try.

I've now done the PING fragmentation test. Had to lower the MTU to 1460 to avoid fragmentation.

Now have to get wife to try to upload something.

Do you know if she will need to change the MTU on her phone or will the router setting take precedence? Probably can't change the phone MTU without rooting it so I hope that I don't have to do this.
