I was thinking, how come on a Monday morning there are still no populist statements in the news.

Now we know... he's not in the country....

Don't count your chickens!!

His weeding planner show was pre-recorded!!

This guy spends more time abroad than Yingluck.

I thought he was just with the Chinese Leader on Saturday signing agreements.

h

Beat me to it just thinking exactly the same thing.

On return another media release to say how well he was received and everything he does completely supported and for once it may actually be true as some of the things introduced here are straight out of the Chinese leaders' handbook.

Cozying up to China is like dancing with the devil. I don't often quote Ho Chi Minh but now is appropriate. During the Indochina war of independence from the France he was pressured by many of the Vietcong leadership to accept more help from China, to which he replied:

“You fools! Don't you realize what it means if the Chinese remain? Don't you remember your history? The last time the Chinese came, they stayed a thousand years. The French are foreigners. They are weak. Colonialism is dying. The white man is finished in Asia. But if the Chinese stay now, they will never go. As for me, I prefer to sniff French sh**t for five years than to eat Chinese sh**t for the rest of my life.”

Maybe the current 'government' would be well advised to read a little more!

If it is translated into English , that might be a problem

Besides wiping my hands of the China deal and the thought of later on saying, I told you so , there is not much to add to this piece of nondescript news , just to add that OZ is about to sign a free trade pact with this mob and it took 10 years in the making , last chance Thailand , think about it. bah.gif

So the future is China then ?

It would seem so , although if another elected Government tried to back out of the China deals they may find the door closed , that's a worry .

It would seem so , although if another elected Government tried to back out of the China deals they may find the door closed , that's a worry .

Previous governments were also friendly to very friendly with China. That doesn't suggest any intention to 'back out' whatever government Thailand may get.

one thing for sure - US influence in AP is weakening due to its poor economy. In contrast, China's economy is growing, although at a slower rate than before.

Hi Rubl

Given the Chinese are now paying a large portion of the infrastructure costs, what is happening to the three trillion baht infrastructure loan which was approved a few weeks after coming into office?

Australia got some of the leftovers at the G20 after the major (and only deals) were done at APEC the week before and were mostly with Russia. And it's only because Australia is rich in resources otherwise the Chinese would not been interested at all.

Also one of the conditions was that there would be a Yuan clearing bank, just like what is on the agenda of Prayut's meeting.

Yes guys, the days of Western Imperialism are over. Also more and more countries are bypassing the greenback. The Chinese economy has already in-officially surpassed the US.

The biggest loser unfortunately will be Europe, which is highly dependent on trade with Russia and Asia. If they keep siding with the US there is no future.

Some of you should read up on the New Silk Road project- perhaps you would then better understand what is going on. The only country that has been waging wars over the last decades is America - all in name of "freedom and democracy".

The Chinese was is one of constructive engagement. Investing in infrastructure - not trying to topple governmentsand bombing the hell out of places if they don't get it their way.... nuff said

Try not to distract from the topic please.

Part of the multi trillion project plan is covered with the two dual track 160km/h speed lines we discuss in this topic. Some reservation made in the 2014/2015 National Budget. More reservations needed in coming years National Budget.

One wonders what deals he will sign and how many livelihoods in the North and North-East he will gift to Chinese tycoons' profit lines.

Everybody seems to overlook this part of the agreements:

"... cooperation between stock markets of the two countries."

Absolutely no details but it may be that the Junta will allow the yuan to be used in the Thai stock market. Since the yuan is not an international currency, the Chinese will decide what the exchange rate will be at any time they choose. Historically, they have valued the yuan much higher for foreign use than compared to domestic use. On the one hand such a currency differential may give Chinese investors an advantage for cheap equity investments in the Thai stock market. On the other hand, it might also produce a serious upward spike in the SET Index and associated publicly-traded company stocks that would favor current Thai stockholders.

If the Thai elites were a proactive and forward thinking bunch, they may have kept their own railway up to date.

If decades of governments had been a proactive and forward thinking bunch and not just throw out the work done by a previous government in order to start again from scratch ... ... ...
