Nakhon Ratchasima DLT to increase service for New Year

NAKHON RATCHASIMA, 23 December 2014 (NNT) – The Nakhon Ratchasima Provincial Land Transport Office (DLT) will be providing extra bus services to accommodate the public’s commute back to their hometown during the New Year’s holidays.

The Nakhon Ratchasima DLT official Sira Boonthamkul has revealed that the office has been getting ready for the increased number of travelers during the New Year’s holidays.

He said that since mid-December, the DLT office has deployed its officials to inspect the readiness of its vehicles, enforcing seat-belt usages before starting the trip, and checking the readiness of drivers, especially the alcohol tests.

The DLT office has coordinated with the police and military to provide protection at the bus stations, establishing the public transport passenger protection center at the Nakhon Ratchasima bus station, and asked the truck lines to stop operating during the holidays, said the DLT official.

He added that the commute to the north-eastern region is not worrisome as the people gradually travel to their destinations and there are enough buses to provide the service.

Meanwhile, the commute back to Bangkok on 3-4 January 2015 is expected to be congested as many people have planned to travel in the same day, causing the passenger to wait longer for the available buses. It is expected that all passengers waiting at the bus station will be able to catch the bus before 9pm each day.

For this, the Nakhon Ratchasima bus station will provide 100 additional buses to help ease the congestion. However, the public is advised to plan their journey ahead or purchase their return ticket early to avoid passenger congestion or having to wait for the available buses, said the DLT official.
