Does anyone know where I can find Tiffany-style lamps in Chiang Mai?

Another alternative – mail order from shop/manufacturer in Thailand?

I can’t find anything on the internet in Thailand!

Thank you or replying.

Very English retro/ art deco style has not yet arrived in Thailand. Though when you see it filling the shelves in B+Q(like 5yrs ago) in England you know already that it has been reduced to "chav" style.

I would say the first places to get the Western copy is Index and Home Pro.

I was in Home Pro just yesterday educating myself on all their lighting range. They certainly dont have those. Infact their lighting is very old fashioned to me (Ikea style) cheap. In the end I was happy to buy thier brand name bulbs but not a light.

You could try Index though. They like to sell retro wallpapers so this stained glass appeal may also be there.

If you want to try upmarket then Lamptitude just over the bridge (on the road upto the bus station) you can also catalogue order from them.

good luck

Thank you Eyecatcher. I have already tried Index and HomePro with no luck. I will try Lamptitude as your suggest.

Any Victorian-style lamps would be nice to find. I don't like the modern-look, that is the problem, and I like some colour and imaginative styles.

Amazing... only last Monday, I pointed to a Lamp in a display near the escalators at Robinson...not sure which floor though and told my daughter (aged 14) that it looked a bit like what, in Australia, we called a "Tiffany Lamp."

If all else fails have a look at Robinson (Airport Plaza CNX)

Thanks Torrens. I'll check it out.

I'm working with stained glass in CM. I have a few Tiffany style lamps that I brought with me from home which may be for sale. They were made years ago when I was in the business full time. Lamps you might find today are mass produced in China. The workmanship and glass selection is usually reasonable. Anything you may come across would be very limited as to size, colour, design, etc. Hence the price is less than what is custom made or from the west. I may be able to make something to order. See my blog artglassiam dot blogspot dot com. PM me if you like.

I just looked at your website - interesting. I tried to find Sangdee Gallery and Café on the internet where you exhibit but could not find anything. Where is this Gallery? Do you have any lamps that I can see?

Yes, I noticed that China is a big manufacturer of this product now but I don't really want to import into Thailand because of the excessive customs duty.

Sangdee is on soi 5 sirimangjlajarn. Look for the hotel B2.

I have seen some Art Deco and Victorian style lamps in a shop on Thanon Phra Ahtit (runs alongside the river in Banglamphu BKK. They were quite well done. I realise you may not get to BKK, but they are available in Thailand - these were all made in Vietnam. A lot of that French second empire look - bronze bases. But there were also Tiffany style also. I think Chatuchack would be worth looking at as well, if you ever get to BKK.

I'm away until Jan 7. I have a small studio at my home if you're interested in coming by. Also I have some work, including 1 lamp, on display at B Tree Gems and Jewellery in Ban Tawai. Left side almost across from the popular 2nd floor restaurant.
