AirAsiaX blasted for cancelling Melbourne — Bali route and telling passengers via text

BUDGET airline AirAsia X has angered passengers and thrown plans into chaos after cancelling direct flights from Melbourne to Bali and giving flyers only a day’s notice.

The Malaysian carrier failed to gain approval from Australian and Indonesian aviation bodies for the new route, which was due to start on Boxing Day.

The news was broken to passengers via text message on Christmas Day, Fairfaxreports.

Instead of flying customers directly from Melbourne to Bali, the flights will instead go via Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia — adding at seven hours to the six-hour journey.

In reading all these cheap charlie posts over the last six years, I can only say you get what you pay for. You pay peanuts, you are going to get monkeys running the show. The airline owes you nothing, only to get you your paid up destination within a reasonable timeframe. If it adds 7 hours onto your travel time, doodums kiddo, you loose a day at the beach. Pay top price and you will be rewarded with service, consideration and the utmost respect. BTW what has Bali got to do with Thailand forums? It says Thai Visa not Bali balls?

You're wrong.. the airline dose owe you plenty, by selling you a ticket they undertake to provide

you with said service as well as fair disclosure of all relevant information just like they make you

acknowledge when you purchase the ticket,

the airlines shouldn't sold a ticket if they didn't have the landing take off and permission from the r

relevant destination, or at least inform the passenger of such possibly that said flight might not

take off if permissions was not obtained, which they didn't

also, Air Asia is not a cheap Charlie airline, it probably has more aircrafts and destinations

than regular airlines and it provide efficient and reliable service most of the time...

better a text than finding out once at the airport

Yep, like with Thai Airways/Thai Smile which cancelled flghts from Suvarnabhumi and setup new flights from Don Mueang without ANY notice to customers (that took place in August and up to October there were people surprised to hear from friends or internet that their schedule went to the bin).

From own experience.

Er um one less aircraft now, as flight QZ8501 from Surabaya to Singapore, is missing, after loosing radar contact.

As for the airlines, you are seat number and a named pax. You fly at their conveinince, not yours. You want to fly at your conveinince, charter a plane for yourself only.

There are already plenty of airlines flying the Melbourne-Bali route non-stop, so this news is only going to be a disappointment to those folks that purchased, or were hoping to purchase a ticket on the new service. For everyone else, there are plenty of other options such as Jetstar and Garuda Indonesia and possibly others.

I would be much more excited to hear about a new direct service between say Sydney and Yangon, Melbourne and Kunming or something like that.

Indonesia Air Asia. Terms and Conditions of Transport.

Article 9

Schedules, Cancellations

9.1 Schedules: We will use our best efforts to avoid delay in carrying you and your baggage. We will endeavour to adhere to published schedules in effect on the date of travel. However, times shown in timetables, schedules or elsewhere are subject to change at any time and from time to time and we shall not be liable in any way whatsoever for any loss incurred by passengers as a result of such change.

9.2 Cancellation, Changes of Schedules: At any time after a booking has been made we may change our schedules and/or cancel, terminate, divert, postpone reschedule or delay any flight where we reasonably consider this to be justified by circumstances beyond our control or for reasons of safety or commercial reasons. In the event of such flight cancellation, we shall at our option, either:

  • carry you at the earliest opportunity on another of our scheduled services on which space is available without additional charge and, where necessary, extend the validity of your booking; or
  • should you choose to travel at another time, retain the value of your fare in a credit account for your future travel provided that you must re-book within three (3) months there from.

Tough one Ezzra old chap. Read the fine print. Applies to all airlines. Subject to change without notice.

BTW you do have all travel and medical insurance before you fly right? So you got a text message, be glad.

I am still waiting for some smoke signals from their sister airline about my missed flight. I was very, very lucky I missed that one, MH370....RIP.

I don't fly with any airlines connected to Malaysia now, the gov lied to us about MH370, so they are not trustworthy in my books. The aircraft are fine. Malaysia airlines are cursed.

RIP and condolences to all those connected to Indonesia AirAsia flight QZ8501.

Please Excuse not thai related! How about British Airways?? they are not exactly a budget airline, we booked 3 Assisted flights with them from LHR to Fuertoventura , we are all 3 wheel chair bound, assistance was booked and paid for in Madrid and at destination , on arrival at flight desk at 0530 , they told us we had been put on a later flight 1725 that evening, no reason, that we had assistance and vehicles booked and paid for was not their concern, it seems the flight was overbooked there was a crowd in the same predicament as us, tempers were flaring, but BA just were not bothered, eventually we arrived on the Canary Islands at 2230, no assistance or transport or luggagebah.gif luckily a tour guide was just coming off duty and took pity on 3 wheelchairbound wrinklies and took us to our hotel, when we got home we complained to BA both by letter and phone , it is now over 3 years we have never had a reply and 1 suitcase is still missing!! while living in Australia we used air asia all the time, we were always well looked after, and in KL and Penang they even picked us up from the Hotel!!wai2.gif
