I've noticed some strange things lately. I'll go into my Yahoo email account, check my new emails, but the inbox still says there are unread emails. Even though none are showing up in the inbox panel.

Just now, my PC blew up and I had the blue screen of death. Rebooted, went into email again, and guess what! 6 new emails from several weeks ago showed up. It's been saying there are 12, but I've never been able to get to them. The inbox is still saying there are 6 unread emails.

I went into another browser and briefly I think an unread email flashed on the screen before it went back to showing 6 unread. But it was quite fast, so not sure. I've even tried on the tablet, but getting the same result.

Anybody have any thoughts on this? I've searched the internet and seen other problems reported, but not this one. Or maybe I just searched with the wrong words!

Thanks in advance.

In fact, I need help too.

I go into "My Contacts"

Delete contact - later it reappears

Edit Contact - later the unedited email address reappears

My Yahoo Mail problem - easily fixed.

I am now a Gmail user.

Import contacts - too easy.

Notify contacts of your new email address - same

Time? 30-60 min

Was it a good move? YES!

I use Gmail as my primary and I send and receive it with Outlook. No going online for mail ever.

Cheers.

I've used webmail (Gmail) for years. I've never understood the advantages of Outlook, never understood it at all actually. Can somebody explain services like Outlook and Thunderbird in simple terms?

Outlook and thunderbird mean you have all your emails accessible on your own pc without internet. Slightly different interface, core features identical.

I used thunderbird for years...web based gmail now since their interface is even better.

As for the op...sounds like internal issues with yahoo mail!

Outlook or Thunderbird offline used to be really handy years ago when dial-up internet plans were x many hours per month. You would download your e-mails, quickly go off-line so as not to use up any more hours, draft your replies, and they'd be automatically sent the next time you dialed up to go online. It doesn't matter so much now most people are connected 24/7 for a set price per month, regardless of how many hours they use. Now it's just another form of back-up.

Thanks for the lucid explanations of Outlook and T-bird. I always had the feeling I was missing out on something I should use. Guess not any more.

I used Yahoo for a long time. Over time, it was not enjoyable.

However, transition to an alternative seemed too difficult.

GMail is very enjoyable - learning curve - minimal.
