Why don't all the media, the Shins don't own or control, make the decision together to totally ignore him and what the Shins do abroad, except any new crimininal activity or a welcome obituary!?

Because the media, whether it's owned by Thaksin or not, will broadcast stuff that it feels the general public are interested in. It's a market, you sell or provide what the customer wants. If you give the market what you think it wants, but if you're missing something, well, your big company might not survive. You'ill lose some of your customers.

Democrats spent more money on vote buying at last election...A radio interview script is posted on this forum several times that as this admission

Surely that's only because PTP under Ms Yingluck spent taxpayers' money on vote buying, rather than their own party-cash, you know with such promises as the increased minimum-wage, or the rice-scam scheme, or the Samsung tablet-computer for every child.

Remember the promise that, if people voted for his nominee-party, every Thai would be rich within six months ?

So how's that going, then ? wink.png

That is an interesting definition of vote buying.Applying these criteria every democratic leader around the world would be guilty of vote buying - ie implementing the policies they were elected to put in place.

Because "all the media the Shins don't own or control" realise that an awful lot of people in Thailand are interested in what Thaksin does. That sells papers. Ignoring him may reduce their market share. Are Thaksin supporters a majority or a minority? We don't know because the Thais are not allowed to indicate their support through the ballot box. Given the current regimes reluctance to countenance an election, despite their claims of support running in the high 90%s, and the efforts made to prevent an election last year before the coup, one wonders whether his supporters may be in a majority?

Can you imagine Thaksin entering China, when they ask him the reason for his visit ?

"Self imposed exile".........................

"Welcome to China sir. Enjoy your stay"..............................clap2.gif

I'm surprised China has let him back in again, wasn't the Chinese Olympic Games where he lost it completely and did a runner to Europe,to avoid facing up to his many legal convictions? I can't see him ever giving himself up,and serve his Jail time, only men of honour and integrity do that!

We don't know because the Shinawatra clan keep up their fraudulent electing practices that keep getting elections annulled or their parties dissolved.

Even when they don't need to cheat to win an election, they cheat, and then subsequently whine about being removed from office and having their political parties dissolved.

They simply can't stop cheating to win elections.... no matter how large their un-cheated election wins would have been.

I think the junta should drag his ass back to Thailand call a democratic election get Thaksin and angry eyebrows to go head to head for PM and Yingluck against abhisit for deputy PM winner takes all.

That would fix those red shin supporters once and for all.

Thaksin can't stand in an election. He's ineligible.

He's been criminally convicted and sentenced to two years in prison.

They cheat because they cannot take the risk of losing their place at the trough, that is after all the only reason they are in politics.

A good, honest man who was poor but had good intentions will never beat the corrupt, when it comes to winning power.

And all Thai elections prove to me is that voters welcome that cash bonus for their vote. Be honest with ourselves, what would the voter turn out be without that "sweetener" ???

The election last February was not annulled due to "Shinawatra cheating". The one prior to that was won by the "Shinawatra Clan", an election that was domestically and internationally accepted as fair.

We can not know what Thaksis support is today because the Junta will not allow (risk) an election, and last years was eagerly annulled by the courts following flagrant obstruction by factions who simply cannot accept an election result which does not go in their favour. Draw your own concluios as to who is cheating the democratic process.

Right, the Nation has put up this story. Do people want to organise a boycott of the Nation newspaper ??

The thought of the suggestion of such a possible threat must have the Nation quaking in their flip-flops....

The only news I want to read about this clown is if he was in Shanghai for the countdown and he was one of the casualties. Apart from that who gives a rat's behind what this goofball does.

The majority of the Thai people who voted for him do.

Only it wasn't actually a majority. Was it?

Yes, but more voted for Thaksin than those who voted for Abhisit. That's how it is you win an election, right ?

Actually no one voted for Abhisit or Thaksin, they actually voted for their local politicians and their favorite party. About 14.5 million voted Phua Thai and 11.8 for Democrats hardly the majority! In fact not even a majority of the vote and definitely not a majority of eligible voters. About 17 million voted for other parties than Phua Thai (that includes Democrats votes)

But your correct the most votes win an election. But it wasn't a majority!

In any general election held in a Western democracy the kind of victory achieved by Phua Thai would be see as a triumph. It is rare that any winning party obtains an overall majority.

While you are right that party leaders are not voted for by the electorate, it is obvious that the country at the last election in considering several factors, a major one was the relative appeal of Abhisit and Yingluck.

This accused mass murderer, accused terrorist and convicted criminal that loves coups when it makes him richer and hates coups when it makes him poorer is still in the news.

I wonder what the most popular PM in the last decade thinks of this.

We have to bear in mind that the Nation is an anti-Thaksin newspaper.

How about a partial boycott as a threat ? Basically, how about : don't buy the Nation on Mondays if you are an anti-Thaksinite who is fed up of these stories about Thaksin ? Now then, if on Mondays, sales of the Nation are down ten or twenty per cent, well, yes, it will make the Nation think twice about printing stories about Thaksin.

The consumer has great power. It's no good jmping up and down, trying to make your point. A boycott is what gives the people their power. A boycott is what they're scared of.

It's a bit like the anti-Thaksinites who tried to boycott AIS some years ago. And Thaksinites boycotting DTAC. Stuff that you buy IS symbolic and representative of whatever philosophy/idealogy that you believe in. But some people don't realise that by buying whatever stuff, they are actually supporting whatever cause or group.

Power to the people. Remember, the people united will NEVER be defeated. The biggest reason for their victory over us is because they managed to divide us, and they made us believe we were powerless.

Why does the media persist with ' what is Thaksin doing ' campaign

everybody is sick & tired of it ... he's gone , finished ... forget him ..

Only news next time should be a picture of him in the Bangkok Hilton ........coffee1.gif alt=coffee1.gif>

Well, the Nation is certainly NOT a pro-Thaksin newspaper.

And yes, why are they reporting this story ? Is it because the Nation feels that lots of its readers want to know about this news ? Or is it because the Nation wants to antagonise its own readers by constantly bringing up news about Thaksin ??

It's called 'journalism', and it's closely related to selling newspapers.

Either you're being facetious or you're delusional.

This sounds like something out of the '60s... really mindless.

Power to the People!

Or is it as Eric Hoffer said, "Power to the people who are saying 'Power to the People' "?
